The first post. Offensive can be funny at times, but there has to be a joke somewhere in there, too. Not just cultural insensitivity + racism + first world bitching.

Man there's real racism out there and then there's this kind of stuff. To call it serious racism is like calling someone tapping someone on the shoulder a bit a thug.

You also have to look at intent.....was the poster's intent to insult all asians or koreans or just that one person, and why? For good reasons or bad, etc?

Look at minority comedians......chris rock, etc.....they use such humor all the time, against their own race and others. It's just a joke, is what i'm saying. Stop seeing into it more than you need to.

IMO if we keep getting offended by all this small time off-color un-pc humor we'll never heal the racial divide, especially if getting pissed about such takes our minds from true acts of racism/etc in the world.

(And as for first world bitching....isn't that what general forums(across the internet) are for(within reason of course) sometimes?)

Meaning this post isn't real? Racism grows out of a pro-racist environment. Fake Engrish is part of such environment. Racism isn't just beating up people with the wrong skin colour, it's a mindset. And until that mindset gets shaken out of society, racism (the "real" kind) will never leave.

You have a point there, yes. But comparing a heavily modded forum to the monstrosity that is NK is well beyond hyperbole. That's like chipping a nail and claiming it's just the same experience as dying of bowel cancer.

Look, I do think the Kim Jong Il looking at things blog was hilarious, for example. I'm not above making fun of things which aren't funny at all. But there is a line somewhere, and this was way behind it, that's all.

People laughing at off-color jokes isn't going to make everyone hate or attack minorities though. And I don't think a few people using such humor or laughing at such is what is keeping racism around, or at least not the majority reason. I think a more valid reason is people getting hung over(because they get offended easily or others in positions of influence over them tell them it's the "correct" thing to do) little things like this that makes a bigger impact.

It's an example of how off-color humor isn't as bad as you seem to think and how we shouldn't get offended by every little thing. People need to laugh at themselves every once in awhile I think, and if the person telling the jokes isn't the same skin color as you should that make a difference?

Some people overexaggerate...this is true in many things.....and while you say this is going too far IMO your response is going too over the top. Just my two cents.

Oh, you won't see me arguing for political correctness, and believe me, I'm all for self-aware irony. Making fun of racism itself is very healthy (which is what the good minority comedians do), and I'll never say otherwise. But that's not what this post does, at all.
Yeah, I know. And I'm not nearly as upset as it might seem. I just quite honestly fail to see any humour there. Hence the "ha ha". That's pretty much all.

But we could keep discussing this all day, and never get anywhere, so I'll stop right here.

I believe it's not so bad though that's just my opinion. I guess it depends on the mindset of who reads it though.

Just some moaning about one internet forum on another one, mixed with the usual overblown comparison to North Korea (yawn), and some racial stereotypes thrown in, which happen to even miss the intended mark because Korean's don't even have the accent that the post is trying to make fun of. There may also be some legitimate concern about heavy-handed moderation on Bioware's forum somewhere underneath, but if that's the case, then this message is really deep buried under all the ... crap.

Yea I get that, but what the hell is that video? What has that to do with anything, well other than some random gamer chick posting useless stuff on youtube as they often do for whatever reason.
