Aliasalpha: BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE IN AMERICA

That seems very odd for a Canadian company.
Holy F*&! US only? What the hell? I've been a BioWare fan for along time. Hell, I even moderate on some of their forums, but US ONLY!!!! WTF are they thinking? Jeebus. They're a Canadian company FFS, and Canadians can't even enter, let alone the rest of the world. The mind boggles.

For BioWare (and not only them, but that is another story) probably 1US fan>>>1RotW (rest of the world) fan.

Taking into account the nationality composition of their community, it seems to be more like "1US fan > 5 RotW fans" :(
But why do I have to say, that I'm not surprised :( *goes swearing*

This time around they're even excluding some people from within the US. Lovely, just lovely.

They were a Canadian company, but now they're owned by EA, very much a US company.

Aliasalpha: Wonder if it'd be worth moving to planet america one day...

No, its not worth it.
Not only is it stupid that they regionally restricted it, but this is one of the dumbest hype things I've ever seen. Who cares about crap like collecting "tokens" for doing stuff on the BioWare website. I don't care about BioWare's website, I care about their games.

Why, too long surnames?
avatar
Miaghstir: Why, too long surnames?

It could be i guess, but no. A couple of States from the United States can't get in on it.
For some reason, this comes to mind...

That probably has do with the contest not being allowed because of specific laws in those states.

And not being allowed in the rest of the world because of shipping and the like.
But nah, it must be because Bioware are evil and hate everyone in the world. Yeah, that's it.

I don't know why it is. I know that if i were in the US, in one of those states, i'd be pretty pissed with EA/Bioware for not comming up with something available to the whole US instead of this. And i'm not even getting into the ROTW angle...

Different states have different regulations regarding contests that award tangible or intangible goods, or they have gambling laws that restrict the type/method of gambling. Rhode Island is usually the state left out of online contests/lottos/etc. The same really goes for the rest of the world - they have laws in place (for trade reasons probably) that limit the ability for US based companies to have any type of gambling/lotto system performed without a physical presence.
That said - the Epic Community Event is certainly Epic. It is splitting the community quite effectively better than anything that has been done before.

I don't even know if the responsability for this falls with EA or Bioware. Do you ?
I don't have to know why 'they' decided to do this to realize it's unfair bullshit to all Bioware fans who had a potencial interest in this and were left out.
