if anything it will beat Dragon Age 2's sales, but won't beat Origins'

Yeh, me too.

Even if you ["you" now being the forum at large, not SimonG] didn't like the second game, isn't it possible to judge the third on its own merits? Very few people I know would ditch a book series they like because it has a weak entry, or stop watching a TV show because one of the episodes is bad, or swear to never again by a CD from a favorite artist because the last one was kind of disappointing; but people are so angry about this game.

I mean, I liked DA2, but even if I didn't, I wouldn't understand this. Like, the WII Metroid game was awful, but when the next one comes out, I'll look at reviews, see if it repeats the same mistakes, and if it doesn't, buy it. Why? Because the series has been of a high enough quality that it gets the benefit of the doubt, and doesn't have to be forever excised from my life because one of the games was bad. So if you liked the first DA and didn't like the second, why not at least consider that they're going to consider the reception it got, and do things differently this time?

lowyhong: But bros, will it still have awesome and adult relationships?
I think that posts shows why I have more faith in Obsidian than Bioware.

Sawyer basically said "we need to have a certain level of quality in the relationships in games and not make them too arcady and cheap" which I found to be a very fair point. Bioware games tends to treat romance in their last range of games as a mini-game where you simply collect gifts or chat them up enough and voila, sex scene! It's incredibly tacky and it's funny how Weekes has a right go at Sawyer when he works for a company that sold its soul and has been pandering to EA since.

I'm 100% with Sawyer: romance in Bioware RPGs is a joke. I must admit it causes quite a lot of laughs (and when DA:O was released, most of the funny parts involved the romances). Either they do romance properly (maybe involving a side quest) or they make it less ridiculous but to me, it harms the games. Maybe Weekes wants a corny shallow experience after a long day, but that's what consoles are for.
I know most will hate on this way before it even releases but I liked both DA games so I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks for the linkage, good news for me as I liked the subject matter of Inquisitor but (imo) the game itself was complete shite.

I, personally, would love to see an Obsidian Dragon Age game.

Gotta agree with pretty much everything you said here. I think Weekes completely misinterpreted what Sawyer was actually trying to say.

Make that a decade and a half

to quote everyone I know

"they closed bullfrog, westwood, and origin"

You know is it me or the EA hate is now more prevelent then before because of what happened to bioware.

I never seen this hate so wide spread all over the internet and such with EA and its old devs

oh i'm sure the hate was there, but with Bioware its EVERYWHERE!

the hate for EA got way to mainstream with bioware fucking up because Bioware was way more popular then bullfrog, westwood, and origin

games like kotor and mass effect 1 were way more popular then syndicate, command & conquar, ultima, populous, and dungeon keeper

Ian: oooh ooooh just need to comple DA: 0 - Buy DA 2 and i will be ready - hope they put it back a bit lmao :D
haha. Me too!
I found this comment on joystick hilarious:

"So peepz, let's guess the endings:

The Maker created the darkspawn to prevent the mages and normals from destroying each other. You travel to the Citadel after uniting the world and get the three choices:
- Unify mages and normals into one, solving the conflict and becoming a dragon.
- Destroy all mages.
- Turn all mages into tranquil."

Sadly, it might be true :P
