Ian: oooh ooooh just need to comple DA: 0 - Buy DA 2 and i will be ready - hope they put it back a bit lmao :D
Don't play DA2. It's a game that will make you weep man tears and wish you had never played it.

I'm not THAT picky about my RPGs but DA2 screwed up in every area:

- dull story: CHECK
- lazy level design: CHECK
- bad pacing: CHECK
- tedious/fetch quests: CHECK
- copy & paste design: CHECK
- illogical story/lore elements: CHECK
- dumbed down combat: CHECK
- many console influences: CHECK
- disappointing ending: CHECK
- bad UI: CHECK
- dumbed down game mechanics: CHECK

Honestly, EVERYTHING about this game smacked disappointment. Compared to DA: Origins, this was an insult. They actually cut out so many of the positives of Dragon Age Origins like how you were able to pick your starter story, how you could outfit and completely configure your team members, an open unlinear world to explore, great setting and lore, etc.

What we got was a crappy city where you got bad fetch quests, enemies that fell out of the air as if they teleported in off the Enterprise, dumb-ass combat, almost no control over team mates, simplified crafting, very linear story line, etc. etc. etc. Not a single element of that game I could appreciate.

Just for another opinion after Red_Avatar's criticism, I'm really liking the game, you just need to approach it without expectations.

OmegaX: I'm guessing they took their work on the cancelled expansion for DA2 and moved it to DA3.
Exactly, they are going to rehash the content they had lined up for Exalted Marches and stretch it into a 'full fledged' game. They can do it too, they've stretched 3 DLC's into a 'full fledged' game when they did DA2 after all. The common notion of full fledged game, or finished game for that matter, may coincide ot not with Bioware's own notions though.

For the love of everthing sacred folks, remeber to take your antibiotics before the marketing gears into full swing, one never knows what terrible brain diseases one might catch from Bioware/EA marketing campaigns, better safe than sorry, specially true if - heavens forbid - they allow David Silverman to go on camera again this time around.
I enjoyed Dragon Age 2. Sure, it wasn't Dragon Age, but for what it was, it was good.
Dragon Age II's story was brilliant. Every fantasy game is about a hero who saves the world, and it was an interesting change to see one about a hero who doesn't.

The whole thing's told in flashback, so you know from the start the world is screwed. And yet you'll still find yourself forgetting that and doing your best to make everything turn out OK. And you will fail. Because sometimes there isn't a single villain for you to raise an army against- sometimes it's a lot more complicated than that.

Just figured I'd chime in and mention I liked the game as well. Half the stuff Red_Avatar mentions I disagree with, the other half... well, they don't break the game for me. Also, Merrill is awesome.
Ok, Bioware, you have one chance to save a damaged franchise. Better make it count. Not that I really have much hope, mind you.

The fuck you talking about?? I've seen this comment time and time again and never understand if it comes out of denial or ignorance...

In DA2 you are ONCE AGAIN the superduper hero that saves all and everyone sucks you up because you so cool and super. Drones of enemies explode by your mere presence and all authority figures ask for your support and guidance like they are imbeciles (which they are - strong writing and all that). How did that place simply not imploded before Hawke's arrival is beyond me.
And of course he is the chief suspect about the start of the uprising. The Holy Inquisition Lite investigates his story so closely exactly because he's considered the prime instigator of the Mage-Chantry conflict. He's definitely NOT just another random citizen caught in the mess.

How is the story any different than every other single "hero saves the day" plot?
It better have an awesome button and crazy up against the wall, let's have it on right here action.
But bros, will it still have awesome and adult relationships?

Well, I have a copy of DA:O incoming so I can finish it, and at some point I have to pick up DA2 (though I'd prefer to pick up an ultimate edition, EA, hint hint). I enjoyed the demo for 2, I think that even if the story sucks I could still enjoy the full game, and I hope they can make 3 extraordinarily good.

Wish we could see a trailer though.
Is awesome button going to be in game?
oh. my. GAWD! I'm like SOOOOO excited. I'm totally looking forward to multiplayer, and is it true we get to play as a dragon?..ZZOOOM, SWOOOSH! "FIRE BREATH BITCHES!!!"
