Leroux: And how can they verify my age if I'm just using an e-mail address and a PayPal account for payment?
avatar
Rusty_Gunn: Probably the age that users set in ...

My Account-My Games-Settings
German law requires definitive proof of age for age-restricted products if they're 18-rated (or you can follow the JMStV method of limiting purchase to 18-rated stuff between the hours of 11pm and 6am. Age checks are usually done by the PostIdent system.

On the other hand, Bioshock was retroactively given an 18 rating in its uncensored form a year or so ago - the collector's edition with BioShock 1 & 2 + DLCs on PS3 was uncensored.

Strijkbout: So Capcom changed their minds after they joined GOG?
How odd.
Capcom US is here. Capcom Japan isn't. Capcom Japan is the one with the regional restrictions from what I recall.

cmdr_flashheart: It would be cool- I've already played these games, but I wouldn't mind collecting them. However, I think it's very unlikely, they've always struck me as very DRM-oriented.
avatar
Robette: I still seem to vividly remember, that Bioshock had the most hiddeous DRM upon release, up to a point where people had to call a hotline to unlock the CD-Key.
They got rid of that years ago. Amazing what you can find on google.

I assume Capcom Japan is the one with all the popular games.

The DRM is still there. The install limits are gone though.
i think its possible since they have removed the drm from the first two games , specially the first bioshock neither has securom nor gfwl nor steamworks.

JMich: Did I hear that right? Take 2 refused because their policy didn't match GOG's "One World, One Price"? Or was the regional blocking the blocking policy?
avatar
tfishell: Dang it! Oh well...
I think it was mentioned that they would gain a few publishers if regional pricing was added. Truthfully I'm not too surprised at this outcome.

They still rid of the problem though. My copy I have had for many years has never had any problems with DRM of any sort. If it's there it is not doing anything.

Well personally I'm glad GOG sort of backtracked on regional pricing, since it helped them stand out.

Unless I'm mistaken they've graciously agreed to take the price hit themselves to keep it fair for everyone else, so I'd imagine we could see at least some Take 2 classics show up here if Take 2 is still getting their money.

I want to see a variety of Take 2 classic titles, some known and some not so known. I just wish that we would see a release soon if something has been worked out...

Yup, this is essentially what people asked for by not allowing GOG to have regional pricing. To me growing the DRM-free library is more important, but I guess I'm in the minority.

We're in the minority and also in the US. Regional prices doesn't really effect us. I didn't say a word on the subject because I didn't want to be killed for having an opinion. I would of rather had more DRM-free games myself, but with the backlash, it wasn't in the cards.

Considering that we don't even have Civ1/2/3/4 on here, which were DRM-free in the past, I doubt they'd be coming. 2K's pretty bad that way.

Take 2 owned... Only reassures the notion that the lack of regional pricing is the issue.

Steam neither has Civ 1 and 2.
