NEVERMIND! MINERVA's DEN OUT NOW ON PC!

Story: http://www.destructoid.com/no-minerva-s-den-or-protector-trials-for-bioshock-2-pc-185965.phtml

Very sad news... BioShock was a massive hit on PC, so I assume either BioShock 2's sales numbers were much lower or they just don't want to deal with Games for Windows Live anymore after switching every 2K game to Steamworks.

It's kind of crappy to support one of your versions less than the other either way.

WTF. That SUCKS. X(

Virama hulk! Virama smash! Seriously though, that's retarded.

Oh well, I AM looking forward to Bioshock : In the Clouds or whatever it's called... The screenshots look AH-MAZEEEEE-ING!

One could very easily argue that this rationale is what often means "no dedicated servers" and "no modding", since it unfairly values one version over the other.

And we tend to get a lot of the console pay-DLCs for free on the PC. Not always, but often.

Don't get me wrong, this sucks. But I also don't see you complaining that XBOXers are paying for The Sacrifice while PC get it for free (then again, I haven't been hanging out in that thread, so maybe you are. I doubt it though :p).

I'm getting tired of us PC gamers getting poor treatment of DLC these days.

We never got the any of the DLC's for...
Saints Row 2; Tomb Raider: Underworld; Prince of Persia (2008 reboot).
And that's just for starters.
We can now add Bioshock 2's last two DLC's as missing for PC gamers.
There's probably more I can't think of...

Thank god I JUST got a state of the art computer last month. That said I'll probably need to get another 2 GTX460's to do some triple SLI'ing. (Yes my motherboard supports 3x graphic cards. How fucking cool is that XD )

Uhhh... there are things preventing equal treatment in your examples. There is nothing preventing them from releasing DLC equally to all platforms.

you're not making this easier for me!! i have to save money to go study abroad, but i'm not going until next summer, and i won't be able to take a super awesome gaming monster with me abroad!
i can't decide if it's worth it if i can only use it for half a year >:(
but if did decide to upgrade, i'd go all in(or all out, whatever) and probably get a big flat screen to hook it up with

May not be great advice but...

Laptop? Get a realllly good one? They're not as expensive as they used to be and besides I prefer to travel with one of these mini ones so I can use it for storage for my Canon 5D Mark II... That beast gobbles up HDD like crazy.

no dude, laptops are for GOGs :p
if i'm ever gonna get into high-end gaming(i haven't even played the first bioshock yet, because the pc can't handle it) it'll be on a stationary. no doubt...

Sorry, but I find it a bit ridiculous to complain about poor treatment for add ons for PC customers when we typically get a lot of those FREE that console owners PAY FOR.

That really doesn't happen that much anymore though, that was sort of a side-effect of their being no centralized DLC platform for the PC when the DLC craze started. Now with Steam, Games for Windows and other such things DLC is pretty much always put up for sale now-a-days on the PC.

I really feel the decision to drop the DLC for PC on BioShock 2 rests with Games for Windows Live. 2K ditched the platform for Steam and are heavily supporting DLC for those Steamworks games. I don't think they want to bother messing with Microsoft anymore.

As StingingVelvet has already said, we don't get that anymore, and in fact it was the free dlc for PCs that started off dlc on consoles when publishers realised there was money to be made there. Now the only free dlc we get is that made by modders, which is really the main strength of the PC nowadays, whereas consoles get the dlc, dedicated servers (many PC games now don't even get that when their console equivalents do), etc.

The reason I feel that developers are doing this kind of thing is because they are essentially trying to push everyone onto consoles, where they have a standardised platform and, more importantly, think piracy is not so rampant (yeah right...) or at least their stockholders do. Plus they can then keep control and profit more by controlling your access to mods.

FlintlockJazz: The reason I feel that developers are doing this kind of thing is because...
Frankly, I can't be bothered with whatever reason they may or may not see / claiming responsible. Not even a, admittedly rationale, "we dropped GFWL completely, which sadly also means no more DLCs for PC".

PC gamers have to live with consolised controls because it's too much effort for a developer to support more then a 1:1 conversion. We have to live with a later release because of piracy and they'll want to get in my purse with so called DLCs, where they just release additional maps, weapons or playable characters.
Then they keep wondering why PC gamers aren't willing to buy more games on release, so they try to capitalize on DLCs.....

Well, I could tell them why I haven't bought a single game new since Mass Effect 2. Why I shy away from buying on release and wait to see what DLCs they're planning and what it'll cost me. Or why Bioshock Infinite just dropped to my "buy GOTY edition on sale"-list.
I could tell them why such highly modable games like the ones from Bethesda still remain on my "must-have"-list, despite horse armor DLC experience.

But I think they should be able to see the obvious for themselves. If not - their loss.

Don't forget to factor in the small powerplant you will need to run 3 GTX460's.
