Hi to all!

Can anybody explain to me what is my best option/place to buy Biochosk 1, with the least intrusive DRM possible?

I saw some contraditory information regarding the Steam version, in the game's page it says "internet activation required", however I saw in other sources stating the DRM in Steam's version was "inert" (besides the Steam specific DRM, of course).

Gamersgate version says Securom, which I assume would mean the internet activation thing...

Are there any better sources out there? Would Steam be my best bet?
all i can tell you is i bought it on steam during xmas sale and didnt have to activate anything - steam cleint being the only drm as i remember (though i may be wrong - my short term is pretty bad these days!). hope that helps somehow!
The DRM in BioShock (SecuROM) is inert in the Steam version, and only uses SteamWorks.

Same for me.
Direct2Drive (Gamefly)
My steam copy never required activation.
Steam or Disc copy works fine here. Not a sausage... but even then if there was naughty bad drm with there'd be 100 threads crying about it. :D

Just check steam, though it'll be a lot cheaper on disc there is no activations required to play the game.
The disc version (at least in North America) still has SecuROM activations., although they changed it from its original limited activations to unlimited. If, as others noted, the Steam version has inert DRM, then that's probably the best way to go.

Gamersgate you can keep your installation files wherever you want, then find a no CD and you're happy with DRM free.

You could always buy it, install it, let it register, use a no-CD crack, copy the files elsewhere, and then uninstall, and finally play your cracked and legitimate copy.

But if you're willing to go to that much effort, that person has a few issues considering how the drm really is nothing to worry about. Paranoia is not healthy guys!
If you don't already have Steam I'd go with SecuRom. If you like Steam then the inert version is the way to go :)

No it's not nor do I support fear mongering, but ...
1. if you just want your game free and clear of any DRM, I see no issue or paranoia with that. After all, it's a cornerstone of this entire site/service. And

2. What effort? To call that effort is like calling a sandcastle an engineering marvel the likes of the 8th wonder of the world. It's pathetic to even call it effort and to label it as something negative without understanding the motivation behind it. And, frankly more than a bit ironic on here.

The procedure I describe takes maybe an hour tops. That's if you take a lunch break in the middle. I just want to play the game without the disk and I abhor Steam with a vitriolic passion. I cracked it for myself and enjoyed the game end-to-end while my disc sat in the case as backup.

I've heard horror stories with securom but most have come from people who don't know what the hell they're talking about.

I'd love to know where you people get your "horror stories". It's all a load of bollocks! This "DRM is the darkside" thing is so old and pointless... it's taking something that isn't that big a deal and blowing it up beyond reasoning. In all my years I have never had one problem with DRM, Steam or Games for Windows... so where this crap comes from I really want to know.
