Dear GOG.
All community based sites need to update rapidly nowadays,
and all do it, for better or worse.
You're one of the few, which always seem to get better and better.
Keep it up!
The new shelf managing system is a bit of a pain. I found it much easier to just swap games around; when you have over 50 games, it can be tricky and a bit frustrating to have to consider that putting a game at a certain place might push out a bunch of other ones.
My thoughts on the new GOG.com:

Newer games and pre-orders: Makes good business sense. It did wonders for The Witcher II and this site, from what I can tell. Besides, many PC releases on CD and DVD these days do not offer much bang for the buck.

Indie games: Why not? The more, the merrier. These games may just be what I am looking for, so its fine with me.

However, I can say right now that I am not a fan of the new site layout. The announcements section just does not grab my attention like it used to. Everything takes longer to load. It almost seems like the changes were made for the sake of being made. That is never a good idea.

However, the biggest peeve that I have is that my two latest acquisitions do not appear on my Collection page! One of them was that most recent free game, but the other was a game that I paid money for. As it is, the site acts as though I never purchased them at all! I have already sent a message to the support team, but I wanted to see if anyone else noticed something like this for games purchased in the last few days.

To top it all off, just trying to post this message has become a hassle. The buttons do not appear properly when the window pops up. I have to adjust the zoom just to find them. It may be just a momentary glitch, but it serves as a noticeable problem for this "new" GOG.com.
Who wrote the title?.. it's not 'GOG' anymore, it's just gog, it even says so on their banner.

Today is a great day for GOG. I think it is a good thing that they open to newer games, and specially indie games. Trine is a great start.

KimJongHealthy: I just hope they don't lose focus on still releasing old games. While GOG is a great service, the reason why I so favor the place is because of the great packaged classics. If they no longer provide such services, I could see myself coming here less.

Not trying to sound to gloomy, I still have great confidence in CD Projekt.
This is my main concern as well. I've not read the whole thread, but has there been any statement of a commitment to still releasing classic games? That's primarily what I come here for.

TheEnigmaticT: Don't worry; we have dozens of classic games signed, in the process of remastering, and scheduled to come out on GOG.com in the next few months. We aren't going to stop releasing classic games.
Whew. That's a relief.

I agree. I like the new approach. There's still going to be lots of Good OLD Games for great prices, and adding new, indie developers is fantastic, especially DRM free. That means I can play some on my home PC, some on my laptop when I travel and I don't have to log in to some online account to do it!
in the new wanted games list there are many entries that are deleted like Test Drive 1,2,4,5,6 and 7

what happened?
I just want to ask people to stop requesting Final Fantasy games other than VII and VIII as those were the only ones released on PC.

EndlessWaves: Casual doesn't mean bad, it just means less 'depth'/simpler controls than the mainstream. Given a mainstream platformer is something like Assassin's Creed which is in 3d, has more weapons and more detailed controls than Trine (not to mention a fully acted and cutscened story) I don't see how it can be anything else.

Beaugeste: That's a rather bizarre view of video-games though, isn't it? I don't gauge complexity by production values or control scheme. An indie game like VVVVV is widely regarded as a hardcore experience, even though it has an exceedingly simple control scheme, has no voice acting, and stylized retro graphics. Machinarium is also regarded as a deep adventure title, not at all casual or shallow. Point-and-click adventure games typically have simple control schemes because, well, they're point-and-click. And there's several of those already on this site. Beneath a Steel Sky is, for example, a precursor to Machinarium, and both play in similar ways with similar settings, so I am not seeing how Machinarium is antithetical to the GOG ethos. I don't think simple controls or an "indie" tag renders a game casual. Like that other poster said, casual suggests that anyone, including non-gamers, can just pick up the game and have fun. VVVVV or Super Meat Boy would have most non-gamers up the wall. I think tabulating complexity or depth in a video-game by counting the number of buttons used or items offered, which is basically what you're describing, is kind of odd.
I agree with what you and SLP said. I think labeling Machinarium and Trine as casual is weird. I don't see it at all

I can see GOG in title. And on banner it's logotype - letters in logo can be different than in actual name (look at Intel - Intel is the name but they have intel in logo)
Also there was "gog" in logo before this announcement.

Doesn't matter what was written before.. it's no longer an acronym.. so capitalisation across the board is no longer relevent, and as 'G.O.G' doesn't actually appears ANYWHERE, it shouldn't be used.
I have to say I like the direction that gog.com is taking, I like the inclusion of indie games and well maybe you can go and buy the same games from the developer for the same price but why shouldnt said developers use a popular site like gog.com to sell its wares also? As for old games well I cant see thats side of the site drying up any time soon.

Im not too bothered about the new site layout either, it may not be ideal but I can find what I want easily enough, its the content that Im really interested in. I do have a BUT however, I really dont like the font in the games lists, its blurred and hard to read, as an ameteur web designer I feel that a good font and the right size and colour text is very important and for me the choice for lists is all wrong.

Apart from the font issue keep up the good work gog team.
To the people having problems with the site itself: contact support! I've just explored everything I usually visit in GOG and it's working fine. I'm using Google Chrome, so maybe there's something different there, but the point is: the site might be buggy, but it's just that, bugs they need to sort out, not really a problem of design. So help them fix the site for everyone by reporting stuff to support.

Other than that, I like the new GOG!! Also, I like the Return of the Wishlist, which is awesome. I'm still patiently waiting for Silver (an awesome action RPG I remember fondly from my childhood, haha) to be released... come on guys, vote for it! :P

Edit: I forgot to say that I'm on both sides of the fence on the image-centered first page... I think it suits the videogame website thing perfectly, but it also starts looking like Steam, and isn't the point to be different than that? Just thinking out loud.

Not only acronyms have capital letters - many companies has names with capitals letters only.
