A week ago there was a Beyond Divinity Review posted in the RPGWatch Forums, which got a couple people to give the game another look after passing on it initially or starting it but quitting. That is hardly surprising, since much of the criticism of the game (though certainly not all) was overblown or invalid, and the people who complained after the original release were a lot louder than those having a good time playing the game.

I was planning on doing a BD giveaway eventually, but now I'm doing it now. To enter, answer the following three questions (preferably with a little bit of detail for the first 2):

EDIT: the giveaway is now over and the winner has been PMed

Why are you you interested in Beyond Divinity?
(hey, look, a giveaway... played Divine Divinity or Divinity 2...)

Why don't you have it already?
(read a bad review... tried the demo and had an issue with something... backlog vs RPG playtime vs free time to play...)

Have you played Divine Divinity?
It is probably better to play them in order, but not essential. The BD novella, and dialog/books in the game, will describe what you need to know about DD and the events between the two games, but there are references to little things in DD that you might miss, or not fully appreciate, if you play BD first.

This contest will run through the weekend, and I'll pick a winner late Monday or early Tuesday.

1) I love me some ARPG actions... and this would complete my set of the Divinity games
2) Never got around to picking it up - got gifted DD and bought Divinity 2 when it was on sale over the holidays
3) Shamefully... not yet... got a bit of a backlog to work my way through... >_>
Why are you you interested in Beyond Divinity?

Because I really love this type of RPG.
The isometric view ins one of the thing I love more, it's full of details and it reminds me about Diablo 1,a game i really enjoyed when I was young.

Why don't you have it already?

We,, because I have a great backlog.
I play all the title I buy soon or later, but I skip from buying titles if I can't clean up a bit my backlog. You can buy bagmes but you can't buy times, sadly.

Have you played Divine Divinity?

I just tried it, for now. It's on my desktop, but I can't manage to fully play it (due to backlog, again).

By the way, thanks for the giveaway :)
Count me in. Thanks and +1 for your generosity, Raze_Larian!

Also, a little promotion in the Giveaways' Directory:

Why are you you interested in Beyond Divinity?
After Divine Divinity, I'd love to continue the series.

Why don't you have it already?
Well... a chronic lack of money count as a valid reason? ;)

Have you played Divine Divinity?
Yeah! It was one of my first requests in the Gifting thread and pH7 kindly gifted to me (thanks again, mate!) :)

1) Because I'm about to finish Divine divinity (played through it loads of times but this time I'm going for the ending)
Also I think it may be one my favorite rpgs ever, I love the combination of diablo and adventure game quests where you have to solve some mistery. (not really a big fan of the hardcore d&d party rpg games, they are too much for me)
2) I never managed to get it because of not beating the first one yet
3) Going through it right now
Why are you you interested in Beyond Divinity?
Because Divine Divinity was such an excellent game. It is that simple. Also, Divinity 2 was really really good as well (it even fulfilled my secret fantasy of being a dragon!)

Why don't you have it already?
Good question. I actually ordered Beyond Divinity at one point, but it got lost in the mail and I got a refund. I've since intended to pick it up here, but part of me said "Wait until you've actually beaten Divine Divinity" (Divine Divinity is such an incredibly lengthy game). The mediocre reviews at the time of its release made me a bit hesitant at first as well, though I've since heard enough good from people who have played it to be interested in it.

Have you played Divine Divinity?
Yes!
Not in, but thanks for giveaway. +1
Not in, but plussage for the giveaway!

I bought BD, lost it moving house, couldnt find it in any shops here (irleland), saw it in france while on holidays and got it there, and since got it as a DD just in case I lose it again lol, great game, great series! :)
Why are you you interested in Beyond Divinity?

Because I love to play RPGs and have previously played Divine Divinity. I remember following the Larian boards a long time ago after reading a preview of Divine Divinity

Why don't you have it already?

I'm currently running through Geneforge and have bought to many games recently ( need to build wife faction!)

Have you played Divine Divinity?

Yes. ( when it was first released) I have the original release somewhere in my study and I have it on GoG too

Thanks for the giveaway and +1
Not entering, but thanks and +1 for the giveaway. :)
I'm in thank you very much for this giveway.

Interested because I simply love RPGs. I do not own it already because I heard negative feedback regarding this game so I was rather reluctant in obtaining it, but being the sequel to Divine Divinity I feel kind of "empty" not to be able to know what's going on in its sequel.

Yes I played Divine Divinity, as I played Diablo I and II, Sacred I, etc and I enjoyed them all!
I'm interested in it because this is a giveaway :), I don't have it because I'm currently playing Divine Divinity, also gotten from a giveaway :).

Wait till you get the inside joke at the end of DD! Its worth the price of admission!
Why are you you interested in Beyond Divinity?
Finished Divine Divinity and it was really good and would love to give the second one a go, also I have a special place in my heart for all kinds of RPGs from first person Dungeon crawls and tile based RPGs to Jrpgs and action RPGs.

Why don't you have it already?
Funds, really low funds right now

Have you played Divine Divinity?
Yes and it was pretty damn good.

Raze_Larian: Why are you you interested in Beyond Divinity?
Because Divine Divinity is one of the coolest RPGs there is, and once I'll have finished it, I suppose I'll have to give Beyond Divinity a chance. Especially when I'll be out of decent top-down RPGs. Also, I heard good things about the third Divinity game, but I doubt I'll allow myself to play it before having played Beyond Divinity.
Why don't you have it already?
Not impatient to get it, as I haven't finished Divine Divinity yet, and have a couple of other top-down RPGs to finish too. Also, I did hear things about Beyond being a bit less good than Divine (more linear or actiony ? plagged by an annoying unavoidable companion ?). Maybe I would have grabbed it if I had been certain it was just more of Divine Divinity, but I heard it drifted towards the less enjoyable. This pushed it a bit on the fence, in the "not immediate" list. Wouldn't sacrifice money on it right now.
Have you played Divine Divinity?
Yes, but not finished it yet. It's still a game that I vigorously publicize on these forums, as a very good balance between action and RPG (and a good exemple of jewel I would have entirely overlooked it it wasn't for GOG). Much much better than the likes of Diablo, Dungeon Siege, Sacred. I see it as a spiritual, almost accidental, sequel to the Feary Tale Adventures, which was a favorite of mine on the Amiga. I have mixed-up impressions about Beyond Divinity, but will eventually play it just because it relates to Divine Divinity, and thus deserves a chance. Hoping it won't feel THAT different.
