I will take bets against, if it comes out within 6 months at $9.99 or less regular price, I will buy you a copy. If it doesn't, you pay me $10.

Site regulars only.

I am convinced GOG has had SS2 "in the can" for a while now, intending to release it once users accept higher price points.

Nice try.
OK sure
Are you saying the bet expires in 6 months or I would owe you $10 if it isn't released at all in 6 months? And what if it is $15?

I would take the bet, IF it wasn't so blatantly unfair in your favor.
A bet that SS2 will be at $9.99 or less? Yes. Released within 6 months? None can be sure of, but rather unlikely given how long it's on the top 5 to-do-list here.
Now take a misleading thread title into consideration, where you actually propose a completely different bet....

I am convinced you're either a troll or a tool talking out of your ass - I may be persuaded to even take bets against it.
They already stated that they'd keep classic game pricepoints at 5.99/9.99. Doing what you say would create quite a backlash, not just for the pricepoint but the backpedalling as well now.

So this is a rather easy bet to take :)

I assuming he didn't mean we'd have to pay him if it doesn't come out in six months. If that's what he meant, well then forget it obviously.
I'm only taking the bet that if it comes out within 6 months, then one of us pays . He pays me $10 ( or I should say a copy of ss2) if it's $9.99 or less, I pay him $10 if it's over that price. If it doesn't come out within 6 months, then the bet is over.

I actually just bought a System Shock 2 copy. Yeah, it was very expensive, 70 dollars with shipping, but at least it comes complete with box and manual. Got tired of waiting for it forever. To be honest, i think the chances of getting System Shock 2 here are rather slim.

System Shock 2 (and the first one) is a legal clusterfuck. EA has the rights to the System Shock name, while Star Insurance Company has the rights to the game itself. Not even EA has control over it. If they could, they certainly would have rebooted the series already, like they did with Syndicate. EA does know for sure how to make money. They know System Shock is pretty famous among PC players. If they could, they would use their franchise to make money.
Anjohl, I will take you up on the following bet:

- If System Shock 2 is released on GOG within the next 6 months at a regular price of $10 or less, you will buy me a copy.
- If System Shock 2 is released on GOG within the next 6 months at a regular price of more than $10 I will pay you $10.
- If System Shock 2 is not released on GOG within the next 6 months the bet is cancelled.

Unless you intentionally phrased your original post in a misleading manner, this should be equivalent to what you had in mind. In fact, the clarified wording should be in your favor since the subject line indicates that your bet is that GOG will release the game at exactly $19.99, which is much more restrictive.

Ya, I guess that sounds like a good bet. What happens in the event of a System Shock 1&2 bundle though? Is the bet null or is that part of the chance?
If Leisure Suit Larry 4 comesout within 6 minutes, I will buy you a copy. If it doesn't, you pay me $1,000,000

Who wants to take the bet?

For all reason and rhyme, then SS2 counts as half the price, I guess :-)

SS2 isn't even close to being a "new-ish" game, so no they won't. If they do manage to license the series, it will be SS1 at 5.99 and SS2 at 9.99.
Te SS name/game/whatever license now belongs to an insurance company in America (can't remember the name), who want an insane amount of money to release it to other companies - guess why. I believe the only company who would actually go in the trouble of paying and releasing it, would be Valve, for obvious reasons, again.

So no, I doubt GOG is QAing it at the moment with a plan of release in 6 months' time. I hope I am wrong, but I doubt it.

Maybe TheEnigmaticT can shed some light in the tunnel, if he wants.
I'll buy it for 6 bucks. It's a Good OLD Game and I won't be paying more than 6.

Toodles!
I'm guessing that when the SS games come here the first game will be 6 bucks and the second game will be 10
