I just played Hyper Princess Pitch from YoYo Games and I loved it. Its a comically christmas themed remake of a game called Carnage

Give it a go, its freeware as with all yoyo games. What are other good titles from YoYo games that you would recommend?

One of the best games from YoYo Games is The Lost Snowmen, a game similar to The Lost Vicking. It's a puzzle game where all the three playable characters have to interact with the environment to solve puzzles, and they all have their own special abilities. The game also comes with a level editor. You control 3 different snowmen, so it's perfect for Christmas time! Give it a try! ;-)

You can download it here: http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/games/50105-lost-snowmen-special-edition

I've attached a screenshot of the game.

NOTE: I never had to register to play this game... If the above version requires registration, send me a PM. I still have all the installation files of the freeware version, and it's registration-free. It contains all the levels, including the secret one, as well as the level editor.

I really liked and [url=http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/games/121810-they-need-to-be-fed]They Need to be Fed (two variations of the same concept by the same dev). They're casual arcade platformers about gravitation, in which you jump from planet to planet, collecting things.

Warp is alright, too, although not as polished and not quite as much fun as the two above, but still a nice diversion.

I'm pretty sure Hotline Miami was made with the YoYo Games Gamemaker. I haven't played it, but I know that's a big one.

If so, that would indeed be one of the best YoYo Games (maybe THE best). But I'd assume the OP is more interested in the freeware and underdog aspects than the actual engine. ;)

Yes it is, as well as Stealth Bastard, God will be Watching, Gunpoint, Spelunky and Valdis Story!
If you want another winter themed game, Granny and Snowmen is quite cool.

Another excellent winter themed shooter game is The Winter Solstice.

Indeed, a very similar game by the same guys is Ancient Ants. IIRC Ancient Ants is a bit "bigger" thanks to unlockable stuff.

One game I also loved back in the day was Caveman Craig. I think the guy(s) actually went on to create a commercial sequel. It gets a bit dull and repetetive very soon but it has a very nice concept and execution.

Another nice winter themed game is also Snowball. And I just noticed that my old review of this game is still the most recent one. I praised the game too much there because it was made by a friend of mine and he used music by another guy we were friends with at the time. :P

A game very dear to me is also , a highly experimental game by Jesse Venbrux, who is probably most famous for Karoshi. Many of them are worth checking out such as [url=http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/games/20523-frozzd]Frozzd as well as the aforementioned They Need to be Fed and all the Karoshi games: the original , [url=http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/games/32253-karoshi-20]Karoshi 2.0 and Karoshi Factory.

Then there's another game by another friend of mine: Space Bugs. He's a huge fan of the original Alien Swarm mod (for UT2k4, I think - later remade by Valve) and was heavily inspired by it. It also has network coop. He also made the very nice platform game Qtype.

The same bud who made Snowball also made Aztec God, a pretty nice and original 3D something game. A bit like Marble Madness with zombies and a bit of gore, I guess. :P And his Circular Level actually also had a small commercial retail release in Germany.

Finally there's SWERVE by yet another friend of mine. Maybe not the most exciting racing game but it's impressive in that it has 1:1 replicas of large portions of real cities, realistic physics and pretty clever AI opponents.

And nope, none of my own games are in the YoYo Games sandbox.

I didn't reply to you in my previous post so in case you missed it - see above. :P

I agree. All games from Jesse Venbrux are very good. Karoshi games are well-made puzzle games. Not always easy, because often you have to think outside the box to complete a level. And Excecution is really a special experience. At least for me it worked exactly like intended (won't say any more to not give away anything).

Indeed. And he's also an incredibly nice guy as far as I can tell. I messaged him once, right after playing Execution for the first time (which he clearly had huge doubts about and which wasn't very well received), congratulated him on the whole thing and he was incredibly humble and grateful for the feedback. A really lovable fella.
