Hey, what has been your favourite update on games so far?

Mine are definetely Cave Story+ (Whole revamp of the entire game!) and Sanctum (Xmas-DLC, sweet!)
Uplink.

NORAD Tracks Santa, anyone? :)
Killing Floor, as always. Santa as a big boss, snowmen throwing snowballs at you, xmas map, xmas achievements, etc etc.

Killing Floor has the best updates.

Also a seemingly infinite amount of maps.

But no singleplayer. I hate that about newer games. Either they make a short singleplayer campaign or none at all. It's Q3 all over again.

It's because we should have friends so we can play games with them. I have many friends. Many, many friends...
*cries*

;) On a lighter note, some games don't require singleplayer. Take battlefield 3 for example: Why on earth did they include one in that game when it's clearly multiplayer product. I don't know a single person who plays the SP campaign.

Most games should have a singleplayer first, multiplayer last approach....or at least make SP as engrossing as MP.
Sanctum was a great update although music got to me after 5 mins

Killing Floor does have single player .... or ar are you talking about no campaign / story mode ?

Yeah story mode. And KF doesn't have true SP, just multiplayer limited to one player. IMO true SP is a campaign played by a single person, not a multiplayer game limited to one person with no real storyline progression.

You do realize that it's the same Xmas update from last year? I didn't even need to reinstall KF since they just reused the same archivement from last year.

Well if it did it wouldn't make much sense. It's based off of a multiplayer only mod from a multiplayer only game. Killing Floor is quite the small game. It's meant purely to be a simple co-op shooter in the style of Left 4 Dead. I don't think a campaign really fits this type of game. Single player doesn't belong in everything, just as multiplayer doesn't either. CSS and Killing Floor should stay multiplayer only IMO.

Killing Floor has a solo mode. In fact the only class not really supported by singleplayer is the medic as that requires you heal team mates to rank up. But asides from that, the game can be played solo with out any real problems.

It had a new map added to it. So there are now two xmas themed maps as opposed to last year where there was only one.

When you make a multiplayer only mod then fine it should stay MP only but when you charge full price for it and call it a game IMO it should have some sort of SP aspect....heck even L4D has a better "sp" mode, complete with progressive map set and some storyline.

As I told ovoon it's not true SP mode as you can pick random maps and classes and level up I think but that's it. L4D did it better imo, with various semi-linear level sets you could plow through which also had some bits of story in them as well in the character banter and such.

That's the way it should be; single-player-focussed or multiplayer only. I'd rather time wasn't wasted on some tacked on SP or MP component that 99% of people won't be buying the game for.
