Yep I sometimes just load up my PSN downloaded version of silent hill 1 just to do the same thing.
Favorite intros for me are.

MechCommander: I only wish the had a bit more production value so it wouldn't have continuity mistakes.

Full Throttle: amazing intro

Nox: I find it pretty funny

11 hour: amazed at the amount of production value.

Runaway 2: like the music and a nice start to the game

Callahan's Crosstime Saloon: The music and the general vibe I like.

Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends : like the story it tells in and of itself.

I had both the Pal and NTSC Us version on PSn, and the retail boxed edition from PSX days :D

But I lost my US PSN account, so I can't access the uncensored version anymore :S

I had a disc version years and years ago but it got stolen, I was quite angry.

I have the first print (not Platinum) version :)

This and Metal Gear Solid (with Expansion Pack) are the only games I have from PSX age :(
Silent Hill 1 and 2. The alley in Silent Hill 1 and the bathroom mirror scene in Silent Hill 2 are just some of the most memorable stuff I've ever seen in a game.

Yep that's what I had also, and was at a time when that game was going for pretty good money on amazon, etc. I was very very pissed. lol

When I changed house, I lost a lot of games, I know your feel :S

I had also Final Fantasy VII (Platinum), VIII and IX (first print) italian version, and I lost them...now they are expansive as hell, and if you want the italian version you need to pay even more.

Even Silent Hill 3 intro was really good, when you realize that is all a dream. Amazing. And SH3 is still better on PS2 then the HD version on PS3.

Yeah lost a lot of games and stuff during moves. One of the reasons I really, really, really hate moving.
A shout out to ToxicTom for his mention of Diablo 2, ESPECIALLY the last bit where (is it Baal?) marches out of the room with robes flailing and fires burning.

That being said I'm go to go a little older and say StarCraft. Yes 90% of the dialogue in that game was ripped off from Aliens (in the pipe 5 x 5), but it still works, especially in the opening when the Terrans are introduced to the Protos.

SHIT! I forgot.....Interstate 76! DUH! That is the hands down winner!

Starcraft.... yeah!!! "Let's go for a little repair". "Hey what's this?". Boom.
Very nicely done.

True, it wasn't bad. Funnily enough Silent Hill 3 was the first Silent Hill I ever really played (except for a few minutes of SH2 on a friend's PS2) and when I first saw the intro I thought "damn, who is she? what is this place? what's with the rabbit? what's with the knife? why does she have an SMG?" (I think she starts with an SMG, right? <.<). The start was so abrupt and confusing that I was convinced that the game is a direct continuation of SH2. And then BAM, she wakes up at that café or something. It was a brilliant opening in that it left you as confused and clueless as the character. I think it's not quite as amazing as the alley in SH1, though. I loved how you experience that transformation as you go deeper and that it's a bit subtle at first. And how shit really goes down when you find that mutilated body held up by barbed wire. Being inevitably torn to pieces by enemies was also certainly more disturbing than the inevitable roller coaster death in SH3.

Also it's just insane how the intro of Silent Hill 1 is both a kind of a trailer or a collage of many of the later events *and* at the same time ends with the first event from the game's plot. SH1's and SH3's openings definitely do a great job of setting a specific mood and confusing you by giving you a lot of random information you can't possibly process at the time.

And heck, even Silent Hill 4's opening is great. The moment that ghost comes out of the wall scared the living shit out of me and was more disturbing than most stuff I've seen in the series. And I was actually insanely greatful that again it was just a dream or vision something, more so than in SH 1 or 3 - like actually waking up from a nightmare.

I actually prefer 1 and 2 overall to the SH3, never could get into 3 much after completing 2.
