I've just seen this sword on a statue of the god Mars at the Musée du Louvre, Paris.

Wouldn't it be great to see this in a video game? I want this sword in Dark Souls 2! Or Witcher 3! Or Divinity: Original Sin!

Let me know what you think of it, and do tell about your favorite ornate swords! :-)

Long time didn't visit there. From the looks of the setting this statue is part of the permanent exposition ?

IMHO 'Les Invalides' is a better place for best swordcraft samples ever ;)
Nice. I agree.

That would be a good way to fling fireballs or something tool; take a swing, then blast 'em with the pommel.

It's in the gallery of italian paintings in the Denon wing. It's part of the permanent collection of course, but they change it now and then, so this statue was new this time.

As for the Invalides, well I grew up next to it, in high school I would look at the dome from the window of the classroom when I was bored, and I still live not far from it.... So I guess that explains why I never bothered to visit it....
Shame on me. ;-)

meh.

I prefer my swords to actually have some sort of use. So anything from Man at Arms kicks the hell out of that statue.

The Louvre? Is that one of them places people go to look at fancy pictures?

Or to look at the people who look at the pictures.

Ever see "Good Will Hunting" where he tells him off for knowing about all that stuff but never actually having been to see them in person? Yeah, that's me.

Hmm. I didn't know they forged Zelda's Master Sword in a Terry Pratchett novel.

That weird abomination?
Oh my... I liked Arthas in W3.

I should have rather lost to Illidan to let him die by worthy weapon.

Sorry, are you trying to imply that you are a genius? Or well read?
