striderscales11: Ok, I want all issues, not just support. I'm just posting this to have a laugh at a good story. None so far :/
Well right now I can't access any of my games nor anything on the "My account" page at all. Not with Firefox, IE or Opera - all I get is a blank page. Does that count for you?

Yes, support has gotten back to me and I'll hope they find the cause. But you may now officially have a laugh at me.

PS: oh and an actually good on was the problems I had before with the gameshelf and where I'd guess my current problem is coming from - you'll find it right here.

GOG support went from great to virtually non-existent. In my experience it has been getting better lately. Not only are the responses not too slow but they actually nail the problems with minimal effort. To the point where I'm almost left feeling stupid for not having thought of their solutions myself.

The only problem I have with their support is how they're falling behind with Windows 7 support. In fact they seem to be treading water and Windows 8 is almost upon us.
Well have no complaints about support, but I bought Syndicate yesterday and boy was it a letdown.

I had a version of Syndicate Plus installed prior to this, but I'm making a collection of all my classic favorites on an external HDD and just having them on a GOG shelf really looks nice.

So I run the the game to see if GOG has done anything better then the version I'm currently running and to my surprise - no.
It's actually much worse, with DOSBox configured really poorly. Screen is centered without stretching in any direction and having cycles set too low.

Considering this is all the work GOG puts in a title using DOSBox this is a complete mess of a release.
I'll just add the missing Exp pack, but we are getting used to that with EA games.
The support here is decent, I guess. A few times I've gotten a quick response that solved the problem, but a few times I've gotten a slow, unhelpful response, and in one case I never got a reply to my tech support question at all.
I don't want to justify GOG, but everyone who is talking about poor technical support should try any technical support of any company. I was forced to try many of them and every single of them was bad.

For example in Dead Space 2 QTE didn't work for me. No matter how fast I pressed key it, I never succeed. I asked EA support about it. First they answered about installing newest drivers etc.. Their next answer was that they can't help me because it's problem on my side. Later I found topic on forum and there was A LOT of people with the same problem. It seems that Dead Space 2 have problems with some graphics cards and it seems that EA didn't fixed it since Dead Space 1 because many people have this problem in both games.

But to be honest I think that all of this is probably not tech support fault but it's because PC is very complex platform. We have to remember that there are downfalls of having fully configurable and tweakable platform.
Every time I have emailed support or PM'd a staff member I was completely ignored, but... okay.

well it's not like people are bitching out of the blue unfairly. The OP is downright asking for people to post their experiences, especially the ones that weren't so hot.

Personally, I don't have some kind of horror story about gog, but I can't think of ANY downright horrible customer support that I've had firsthand for any kind of service ( including non -gaming ones) these past few years. Maybe I'm just lucky , but I dunno. It doesn't strike me as particularly amazing that the OP got a response from a real person within a day . I recently had a problem with a game download from amazon, and I was talking to a real person within 2 minutes after contacting them. Same thing for support for my cable tv. I know those aren't totally comparable to gog. It'd probably be better if I used another pc dd site like gamersgate and steam to compare to gog, but I never have had the situation arise where I needed to contact those sites customer support

I know, I just wanted to point this thing out.
I've read about so many negative issues with GoG support if a game doesn't work I just laugh and buy more games.
Actually, I'm pretty sure people have said support is one of the worst things about GOG. I've never had any major problems, but there are certainly others who've had to wait a LONG time, or never got a response. This is quite unfortunate, because I love this site.
GOG support is fantastic for website/promo/technical/etc. stuff, but not so much when it comes to the games itself. I've had a very quick response to normal queries like CD keys, downloader issues and a credit card problem.

The problem is that people have a misguided view of what exactly GOG does to get their games to run. Some people seem to think they completely rewrite and port the game to Windows 7 or at least rejig the code, but they don't. They don't have access to the source code or anything. So when somebody gets mad that a buggy game is still buggy, GOG can't really do anything about it. So they can't solve the support request and they get an angry customer with a dysfunctional product.

That's my theory of why so many people complain about it. I personally have had nothing but great experiences, but I never ask about game problems. I know that they usually can't solve game related problems so I just use Google or ask in the forums.

Indeed, and I do not blame GOG support for their inability to recode a game. However that is not (in my opinion) their major failing. Their major failing is that by all accounts, support is an email inbox. There are established support practices, free software implementations that support those practices, and loads of blogs websites to explain those practices. There is no excuse for such a system, it's simply lazy.

A decent support system: You log an issue. You are emailed to say that your issue has been logged in the system, and that it has been assigned an initial severity level (thus you know that you're in the queue). The support system also emails the support staff to say there is a new issue. If the issue does not have any activity logged on it for a defined period of time, then alerts are raised, and further emails are sent. As progress is made on the issue, or updates are discovered, they are logged in the system, which then emails the end user (if the support staff choose to) to say that the issue has changed state. All outstanding issues can be quickly viewed by the staff to see what needs to be done, what has been unresolved for a long time, and generally provide a good service.

I know from experience having recently logged a ticket, that GOG fail at step 1. GOG support staff (Firek) are very nice people, but they don't have the processes in place that would be expected for the service they provide.

If the problem in DS1 is the gun turret part you disable VSYNC and the game loads faster and plays that bit easier...mouse is more responsive/etc.

I already resolved this problem. I didn't have any problems with turret. I just had a problem when any necromorph managed to catch me and I had to spam E to free myself - I never managed to do this so it was autolose.
In DS 2 they added quick time events that you had to pass (like this guy with screwdriver) and because I couldn't win QTE, I couldn't progress any further. I found this tip about VSYNC but it didn't helped me and many others. Fortunately I managed to get through it using trainer that slows time.

I managed to do it....the trick is to tap the key with the tip of your finger rapidly, not to push it fully in/down. I dunno if this'll help your issue but it might.
