If you've gotta be robbed... I'd love to see the police lineup

I agree!
I love what the spokesman said, ".. focus on what they are doing and not allow themselves to be distracted, however attractive the view."
I'd rather be held up at boobpoint, rather than gunpoint.
Wow I'm emigrating to France.

Yes, officer. I'm sure was those two!
So it's kind of like this.

It's a (booby) TRAP!
Either French ATMs are VERY different than American ones or we aren't getting the whole story. Me thinks he is covering for having been ready to offer them money for services.
Think about it. According to the article, he entered his pin code, then they flashed him. After that, you would still need to enter the amount to withdraw, and wait for the machine to spit it out. That is pretty long to be staring and completely oblivious.
So something is fishy here.

Not to mention the sound the machines make and he had to be away from the machine. He was probably hovering over one, if not more maybe even happened probably

The impression that I got was that he entered his pin, one flashed him and he got distracted leaving the machine open for the other to quickly nick the cash

That's just it though. "quickly" is the problem. Think about how annoying all those pauses are, and how long it takes the machine to dispense the money.
“We would advise anyone withdrawing cash from a machine to focus on what they are doing and not allow themselves to be distracted, however attractive the view,” the spokesman added.
Do they think we're some kind of zen masters or something?

Maybe it's just the machines you use because the quick cash option only takes a few seconds for me. That's probably what they used. Plus normally you're just standing there waiting so it probably makes it feel longer than it is... however when an attractive woman comes over and flashes you...

Yeah, they should show boobs on ATM screen so people who use it wouldn't get distracted.

Yeah but if they timed it right, they could distract him just before the cash comes out and then the distraction would only have to last long enough to grab the cash. It does sound a bit far fetched though, I'd not be too surprised to read it's the 'engaging services' situation you hypothesised
