I don't know if this has been posted yet, but I just saw this on TV, and it had me rolling with laughter.

Yes. Yes it is. I'm pretty sure that's Obama's Campaign's Official Youtube channel.

+1 for Obama.
Notice the ignorant posts down below. Apparently Obama has the worst record in history. Really, so he's worse that Pierce and Buchanan? Seriously? He's worse than those three jokers that drove the US to the brink o fnon-existence via their own incompetence.
After watching that ad I'm still a bit fuzzy about Obama's political standpoint, but I liked the yellow bird. He has an honest beak.

Um, where do I vote for that big adorable bird again?
I think big bird is just a puppet for the cookie monster though.
It's not worse than this (German) one imho:

http://polpix.sueddeutsche.com/bild/1.1124825.1349777367/860x860/spott-cduslogan.jpg

The slogan is "C as in 'future'". Apparently the party's election managers wanted to link the candidate's name ("Caffier", which starts with a C) to other positive terms, like "future". Unfortunately the German word for "future" doesn't have any C inside, but who cares ...

He didn't win the election, btw.

Oh, that's easy. Come on over here to Wisconsin, where election-day voter registration and a suspended voter ID law means just about anyone, from anywhere, can show up and vote on election day.
This looks like something I see in GTA what the fuck?

Yep Obama's gonna lose, Romney will invade Iran, He is going to favor corporations more with more anti customer policies and deregulation, outlaw the legalized homosexual marriage in new york, and renew SOPA PIPA and declare it law and the internet is dead forever by the hands of greedy over-entitled corperations :(

(of course thats what a hardcore liberal would say and I don't know WTF Romney would do)
This post is intended to be as apolitical as possible.

I would imagine that many of them have no real idea of politics; if they even pay attention, they probably get their knowledge from whatever soundbite is on tv at the moment.
This is not an ad done by a campaign who thinks it is winning. It seems more designed to shore up the base. Americans do take their presidential elections seriously, and this isn't going to influence independents.

An interesting thing to note in this election is that both campaigns are heavily focused on motivating their bases to get out and vote, more so than trying to convince independent voters. Presidential elections have been trending this way, but it's even more pronounced this year. This is because politics have become so polarized in the US that the proportion of the population willing to vote for one of the major parties' candidates and not being convinced on which one to vote for is quite small. Instead, you have die-hards on both sides who are going to vote for their party's candidate regardless, people who lean strongly towards one party or the other but are disillusioned enough that they don't feel particularly motivated to vote unless something really gets them fired up, and then independents who increasingly feel that both parties are full of wankers and thus don't feel inclined to vote. Basically there are more gains to be had in just trying to get the base pissed off enough to bother to go out and vote than there is in trying to convince people that the candidate has good ideas on how to run things. Which is a pretty sad commentary on the state of affairs in US politics.
