Fenixp: Evil Genius (he doesn't clik trough the screens, the bastard!)
Is that some game related in-joke or did they really not know which way the earth turns...?
for me the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R... both visuals and music are so depressing I just want to shoot myself even before I run the game :D
no one mentioned interactive halls/hangars from freespace 1/2
Dead Space 2 have strange neuron system in background
+1 for Psychonauts - i remember when i first time entered it i was waiting for something to pop up... and waited... and waited.... lol :)

Heck, why not go full CARRIER and go for WC 3. If that is still considered a menu ...
ah, yeah WC's games too - many oldies spacesims used such "system"

You're right, Freespace did the same thing as the Star Wars flight sims. Nice contrast between Terran and Vasudan main halls.
For me there is one game who's menus stand above all: Metroid Prime
Not the best by far but fun to use, intuitive and sorta had a steampunk look to it. Liked the sparks and eyes in the forest as well.

StingingVelvet: Might be a weird choice but first thing I thought of was Bulletstorm, which has some excellent main menu music and sweeping vistas.
I loved the Bulletstorm title theme. Probably the only game where I actually sat on the main menu just to listen to the music.

Oooohhh, yes! I love STALKER's main menu. Especially the music.

I've got to agree with Metroid Prime, but I have a soft spot for Perfect Dark's, if you can allow it. Not the title screen, the actual, functional menu, which is a working computer screen inside the game world. If you cancel out, you simply get to walk around the Carrington Institute at your leisure and can discover all sorts of secrets, minigames and training courses, and when you're done, there's the menu waiting for you right where you left it!
The fact that you can play with Meteos' menu makes it a must.
And the music is pretty good too.
Mafia and Enclave have one of my fav menus.

Really? That's cool.

I should play that game some time, just so I know what everyone is talking about.

Oh yeah, I remember that. That was a very cool one. Great game, too.

Fenixp: I was in main menu of Evil Genius and I was thinking of how much work must have went into that. I mean, it's so stylish, with the awesome music playing in the background, every screen having it's own stylized animation in the background, resembling old bond movies. That reminded me of ridiculously good main menu of Riddick (pun intended.) And that led to this thread.

So, what's your favourite main menu? I'm just gonna link to both of the two I named here:
Evil Genius (he doesn't clik trough the screens, the bastard!)
Chronicles of Riddick
Haha. Yeah. EG main menu always made me smile whenever i started the game (especially 40s mark)
