What is THE scariest game on GOG and why?
I would prefer one that will give me nightmares, if possible.
I haven't played it yet but the imagery and storyline of Sanitarium looks pretty good. I've been thinking of buying that or one of the Gabe Knight sequels.

GOG needs Vampire:Bloodlines..the hotel level is a classic and does an excellent job of unnerving the player.

Sanitarium...no question!

Sanitarium has definitely been one that interests me.
Too bad I've been putting it off because I didn't are much for the style when I first saw it.

What's that one with like a house and stairway that doesn't go anywhere? It was in one of the GOG contests, and I keep thinking it's Sanitarium but it's not. I think it's a third person horror/adventure.

I can't find it now, unfortunately.
Scariest game here? Obscure. But good luck finding it! Muahahahaha!

In one of the contests ? Phantasmagoria maybe ?
The best horror game on GOG that I've played is Sanitarium. But that doesn't mean it's scary though.

Yeah, I tried playing that on PS2 and the first character died really fast. I'm still interested in it but I know it isn't here anymore.

I looked back and I don't think it was an official contest, and it definitely didn't have any FMV in it.

hahah how is it horror if it isn't scary? I dunno, I've always thought of them as being one and the same. Enlighten me!

It's horror themed, like a lot of so called horror games are. If you were to cut the list of horror games down to just those that could actually be scary then you'd be looking at possibly the most unexplored genres in gaming.

So in other words, I recommend it as a bloody good game in its own right as opposed to one that doubles as a good laxative.

It was in a user contest then ? Probably a bit hard to find it with so many user contests lately ;)

Oh, and i agree with Navagon btw, a horror themed game doesn't always means scary. Sanitarium is a great game, but i'd never put in in the 'scary' pile.

I'll probably put it off some more, in that case.

Thanks for the input!

I think I saved it somewhere, so I'm going to reconsider searching through the user contests.

If you want a real horror game and don't have Amnesia yet then that should be enough to decide what your next purchase should be.
