i loved the sniper riffle from metal gear solid2
not that it was the best gun but i loved the way it was implemented the levels where it was used were great and the fact that your hands would shake would make it more realistic and not just a point and boom kind of thing.

Lenny: The double-barreled shotgun from doom2.
To me its the perfect implementation of a weapon in a fps.
It kinda sucks at long range and the reload is slow enough that you can't spam it. You will find yourself holding back and waiting for the perfect shot. When you get that perfect shot its devastating.
Nothing beats strafing around like a madman in doom2 and trying to line up the perfect shotgun blast that will drop your opponent right to their knees, blood pouring out from their neck. When its done right it kinda feels like jousting, they miss, you hit, and you are already so close that you will be moving past them as their body hits the floor.

Agreed. It's simply perfect. The only annoying thing, is that it's never enough ammo for it, so using it on the Cyberdemon is a bit difficult, and it's practically useless against the Spider Mastermind.
Lilarcor from Baldur's Gate 2.
C'mon, an evil talking sword? What's better than this?
One of my favorites? The "Deece" from Star Wars: Republic Commando.

Go from an assault rifle to a sniper rifle to an anti-armor grenade launcher just by changing out a couple of attachments. Versatility and reliability in one nifty little package. Just my kind of weapon.

Boo!
"Make way, evil! I'm armed to the teeth and packing a hamster!"
Best gun?
Portal gun, obviously.
Best weapon in a FPS:
Gauntlets of the Necromancer from Hexen (IIRC)
The shokk attack gun in WH40K universe.
Something about the whole overtechnical way of sending a score of terrified/rabid snotlings through warpspace to materialize either on or inside their targets.

Yeah! I totally forget about that one. It was also awesome and it almost close my list of all perfect guns I remember :)
Hmm, well I'm a fan of Warhammer 40K so I can't say no to a Heavy Bolter or Terminator Assault Cannon for the pure rounds on target damage and the overall awesomeness of the design.
The street sweeper shotgun from GTA4: The Lost & Damned is frighteningly effective, I failed the first mission where you get it, I underestimated the sheer power of it and accidently blew up the vehicle I had to capture
Nikita missile launcher from Metal Gear Solid. You didn't get many opportunities to use it but what's not to like about remotely guiding a missile to blow up your target from a distance.

I can't properly recall, but didn't you have to guide the Nikita missiles through air ducts? That was awesome.

That was in MGS 2 I think. The Stinger missile launcher was pretty good in that game too, great for making guards wet themselves during a hold up.

Not sure if that was in the main game, but there were some missions in the VR Missions disc that specifically focused on using each weapon including the Nikita.
Scientist Launcher. (about a minute in). It's pure joy in weapon form >:D
1) The shrinking gun from Duke Nukem 3D.
2) The chainsaw sword from W40k: Dawn of War.
3) The Gae Bolg from The Last Remnant.
I'm sure there are others (like the BFG, Redeemer, etc), but those are pretty nice. :-)
