The good old GameBoy!

Long lasting Batteries, good games, lot of fun :)
That isn't a laptop? BOO I was going to nominate my W110ER - Quad core Ivy Bridge / GeForce 650M / 11 inch formfactor and understated appearance etc etc... and not flashy like an M11x - nothing like playing Skyrim on Ultra while riding the bus! :P

Smallest Linux PC for gaming... Those words together do not make sense in my brain. Linux doesn't have a lot of games. Why would I want a Linux system for gaming?

Go with the GameBoy Advance. All the same perks and more. And has a selection of titles only surpassed by the SNES and Genesis.

Of course, if you want a modern system, get a 3DS.
The PS Vita is by far the best actual portable gaming system at the moment in terms of hardware, marred only by a lack of games at present. Seems to be gradually improving though. Can also recommend a PSP, modded with custom firmware.

I meant best gaming system laptop size or smaller that is modern. Sorry about that. I edited my first post in this thread to show this now.

Hhhmmm true Linux doesn't have many native games and this runs on an ARM processor. The Wikipedia page says: One of Pandora's major intended uses is for homebrew gaming and for the emulation of older computer systems and video game consoles. So I guess if you liked old games or programmed your own it would be good. (or for a cheaper price you get a netbook running Windows or Linux and do the same things).

The PS Vita is the best hardware but really lacking in games so for now a 3DS XL (the XL is meant to have better battery life) is the better one to play on. Shame it still doesn't have two analogue sticks.

iphone (its a phone first for crying out loud) = most expensive and mostly casual games
Kindle = ebooks & your having a laugh if you want to play games
Nintendo 3DS = supposedly decent with decent game selection
PSP + custom firmware = i have one - its good but psp games (at least as far as i can tell is drying up
PSP Vita = best hardware, needs better game selection
