I was looking at the Commandos series for a coop game, but none of the others caught my attention. Let me know if one should.

As for multiplayer games, I have no idea. My brother's one of those short-attention-span types. Ironically, he is interested in playing Commandos, we'll see how that goes.

Commandos 2 is great for co-op. Well, most of the missions are, although you'll both need some idea of what your doing so you don't get frustrated quick-loading every time you hear "ALARM!! ALARM!!" But with a "short-attention-span type" hhhmmmm good luck with that!
Serious Sam!!
I've had a ton of fun with Soldiers: Heroes of World War II's co-op.

It's also insanely hard, though.
Tyrian 2000, and it's free.
Can't speak for Co-op but Unreal Tournament 2004 has an amazing multiplayer. Also, if your brother can handle Commandos, maybe try playing one of the HOMM games in Hot-seat?
On GoG forum it would definitely be our Blood Bowl Chaos edition League (nonpaid advertisement).

We had some bad luck on the first round though, after everyone had managed to complete their first match, Cyanide's new patch and server maintenance lost the results for some reason :(

Of proper GoG games: all the Baldur's Gate's and Icewind Dale's. And Total Annihilation on the RTS sector.

This.
Tyrian has coop? Shit I'm so in!

Also, it's not on GOG, but if anyone here ever partakes in TL 2 MP let me know so I can look for you online, with your permission of course.
Definitely Serious Sam. Rarely have I had so much fun in coop.

My favorites here are Neverwinter Nights, Darkstone, Empire Earth and IL2. All have awesome coop.

NWN -- you can co-op the main stories (and many downloadable ones that have exceptional quality).
Darkstone -- you co-op the main story.
Empire Earth -- You can co-op against a computer opponent in a skirmish. A small game can last an hour or two, a big one can go for a day or two.
IL2 -- You can co-op in an airplane WWII mission. If any of you get shot down, you're dead forever. So it forces you to rely on each other to cover one another and get the mission done. I've heard of folks online that have done massive co-ops for this (like dozens of players), but I've only done it with my bro.
Trine? Or coop duke3D, lots of fun!

Thanks for the recommendations. I was actually thinking of getting IL2. Can you be a little more specific. You can have 2 players in the same plane? Like pilot and gunner?

IL2 has lots of jets and airplanes. The actual IL2 airplane has the pilot in front and a gunner in the back. My bro is a far better pilot than I so he often flies and I'll be the gunner in the back. It's not the most fun way to play, but it is fun.

You can also join a flying group and have a mission. Like he and you could be flying spitfires and guard some bombers that are supposed to take out some objective. You'll each fly your own craft and you may be part of a larger flying group that includes a few more spitfires and maybe an IL2 to cover the rear. Each mission is quite unique.

You could also join opposing sides of the mission. So your bro might fly a spitfire and you might be in a Zero flying high aiming for those bombers that he's supposed to protect.

Lastly, you can oppose one another in one-on-one maps. You select a base and then fly against each other. That's probably my least favorite mode but it has its charms.
