I've been wanting to get into this stuff for a while but never knew where to start. Give me some good ones!

Softer and harder are both good, but I don't mean rock with a Celtic style, I mean true Celtic music.

Enjoy.
Not entirely sure what you mean by Celtic music. Do you mean folk (aka traditional) or just any Irish music including contemporary? Are you including Scottish, Welsh, Manx and Breton in that? What about English folk (we were celts long ago...)?

Is this "celtic" enough? They do describe it as "traditional music and song from the highlands & islands of Scotland and Ireland".
Lasairfhiona Ni Chonaola, knee deep in 'sean-nós' this girl, beautiful voice. Sadly only two albums released to date.

Danú, traditional Irish.

Lúnasa, traditional Irish.

Luar na Lubre, Galician folk.

In America there is a "Celtic music" genre and style, probably manufactured bullshit I don't know. In any case I can't really answer your question as I don't know much about, hence the thread.

Think Lorena McKennit (sp?).

Just looked her up and I'm afraid there's nothing like that that I listen to so I will gracefully withdraw from this thread.

Enya is the closest I can think of, try a old album like the "Celts"
Not really my cup of tea. Now, Folk-Metal and we're talking.

It doesn't have to be the same exact thing as McKennit, but certainly not metal.

I don't know anything about "true" Celtic music, so I just leave these links here for you to see if you like them:

Wolfstone - The Queen of Argyll
Wolfstone - The Piper and the Shrew

Paddy goes to Holyhead - Fill My Glas
Paddy goes to Holyhead - A Last Song
Alan Stivell, the godfather of celtic music.

Tri Martolod
Suite Sudarmoricaine
Ys

I consider Renaissance De l'Harpe Celtique [Renaissance Of The Celtic Harp] and A l'Olympia [Olympia] 'must haves'.

[edit:] damn links
