I just want to talk about next-gen coming up to E3 :P

Quotes from the page:

"Because every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection"

"For an optimal experience, we recommend a broadband connection of 1.5Mbps.[...] In areas where an Ethernet connection is not available, you can connect using mobile broadband."

"With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies."

Ta-da!

That is so absurd! How many gigabytes will I chew through in a month with this new Xbox? I pay a fortune for 10GB a month on my mobile hotspot, and I don't need an Xbox constantly phoning home, eating up my allottment.

I'm sure Microsoft engineers are not using a chatty protocol, and I'm sure they compress all the data that is sent, just to ensure minimal bandwidth usage. Right?
Let's not forget that it seems they believe everyone that plans to buy the XboxONE will have an uncapped, reasonable connection for phoning-home, constantly making sure your games are up-to-date, and so you can do unique things like watch TV.

This thing just keeps looking worse and worse as Microsoft released info on it. I mean, I wasn't interested in Microsoft's "Next-Gen" console after I stopped using my 360, but they just keep putting more and more nails in the metaphorical coffin that it's practically welded shut by now.

I read their announcement actually increased Sony and Nintendo stock prices as well as make the sales of Wii U on Amazon rise by 300%...

Probably a few megabytes at most on the phoning home part.

It'll be the required system (and possibly game) updates that'll chew through your download cap...

I like how the Xbox One utilizes a similar offline mode that Steam has where you must log in online to activate offline mode, yet they made it much, MUCH worse than Valve's system. At least you can play for more than 24 hours in offline mode on Steam.
So I guess it's up to Sony to decide whether I participate in the next console generation*. I can watch TV and DVD's without internet connection? Microsoft, I could already do that.

* Or maybe the Wii U will turn out to be a must buy? *snort*
Some other fun bits from the article:

"Xbox One is designed to run in a low-powered, connected state."
Read: You cannot turn off your Xbox.

"Use Skype in Snap mode to chat while you play games or watch TV."
Read: Telemarketers can now call you in the middle of your gaming experience!

"After signing in and installing, you can play any of your games from any Xbox One because a digital copy of your game is stored on your console and in the cloud."
Read: Hard drive space is now a limiting factor for your game library.

Honestly, sometimes I regret being a gamer.
Other than having to check in every 24 hours, the Xbox One's DRM system is better than Steam as it does enable some kind of trading and reselling.

That said, it is still horrible. Private sales are heavily restricted with the one time only and 30 days on your friend's list deal. Gamestop will still be in business giving even less for games as they know they have people by the balls since the games have to be traded in there.

I wonder how they will lock down the "family" accounts as I could see people making groups among friends to get access to each other's game libraries.
Depending on Smash bros. I might go for a Wii U next gen...
Least Nintendo are all about the games...

Not going to lie, Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, and Earthbound on the Wii-U's Virtual Console are looking pretty good right now.
