McDon: Depending on Smash bros. I might go for a Wii U next gen...
Least Nintendo are all about the games...

SpooferJahk: Not going to lie, Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, and Earthbound on the Wii-U's Virtual Console are looking pretty good right now.
The accessibility talk about Pikmin 3 is worrying...
Least Nintendo have the good sense to (usually) not force it down your throat. They made it a choice in the newer Marios.
I wanna see Orchish say he's a console gamer because he hates DRM, now.
It better be a hell of a E3 for Microsoft to recover, only the exclusives will actually decide whether I buy the Xbox One or not.
Oh my god... I vow to never buy another Microsoft console... Ever. I'm going to buy a PS4 for sure now.

bevinator: Some other fun bits from the article:

"Xbox One is designed to run in a low-powered, connected state."
Read: You cannot turn off your Xbox.

"Use Skype in Snap mode to chat while you play games or watch TV."
Read: Telemarketers can now call you in the middle of your gaming experience!

"After signing in and installing, you can play any of your games from any Xbox One because a digital copy of your game is stored on your console and in the cloud."
Read: Hard drive space is now a limiting factor for your game library.

Honestly, sometimes I regret being a gamer.
wait what telemarketers can call your skype ?, damn it kills to just think of the possibility that i get a call rite when i was about to win the game, if i want to do duct cleaning

(Most of them are tech demos but hey, better sony showing off tech demos than what Microsoft showed at their reveal :P)
You must be insane if you're willing to give up you and your family privacy just to play video game.

People's Privacy is already dead just by talking on the phone :P

Garugo: http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/connected

Quotes from the page:

"Because every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection"

"For an optimal experience, we recommend a broadband connection of 1.5Mbps.[...] In areas where an Ethernet connection is not available, you can connect using mobile broadband."

"With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies."

Ta-da!
Unbelievable. And they'll get away with it too because of all the Call of Duty and Halo fans that don't care and will buy the damn thing anyways. Thankfully I had the community here on GOG help me build a good gaming PC just last year as I had a bad feeling about the next gen and saw this coming, so it looks like i'm switching to PC gaming. I just hope MS doesn't screw that up too.

SpooferJahk: I like how the Xbox One utilizes a similar offline mode that Steam has where you must log in online to activate offline mode, yet they made it much, MUCH worse than Valve's system. At least you can play for more than 24 hours in offline mode on Steam.
The thing is, steam allows you more flexibility than that. Multiple machines with the same log on (offline mode must be set) can play the games for about a month before it needs to call home. And the lack of being able to trade or resell is more or less offset by the crazy cheapness of it all. You arej ust getting a nontransferrable license, but you can get them games for less than 10 bucks (hell, Hitman Absolution was like 6 bucks last week).

Meanwhile, it is VERY unlikely that the xbone is gonna see such crazy discounts. You get less for more money!

Today, a big news broke about the NSA requisitioning the full call records of all Verizon clients, with legal court order via the Patriot Act. The first thing the news segment clarified was that Congress was already well aware of the practice. The second thing it showed were impromptu interviews with Verizon customers off the streets of D.C., saying they're OK with it, as it keeps them safer.

I seem to recall a quote about people willing to give up liberties for safety. I thought it was by an American, but I guess I must have been mistaken...

Benjamin Franklin said it. Giving liberty up in exchange for security, deserves neither, yadda yadda yadda

McDon: Best and Worst games
There are games?

Disregarding the Wii U which I consider to be on a generation of its own. Not that it's got too many games available, but still.

Reading the news on where the big shots of gaming are headed is making me very glad I've gotten more and more into indie games.

Also, <3 GOG.
That's like asking what's the best and worse of three steaming piles of diarrhoea. And no, I'm not saying this as a PC elitist, I'm speaking as a long time console gamer. It's always been nice to simply put the game in the console, sit back on the couch and just play with a sensible controller without any bullshit to deal with. I see no next gen console that even looks like it may offer such an experience. The Wii-U is underpowered even relative to a 360, much less a next gen machine, has fuck all games and has that utterly stupid tablet controller and Wii-motes. It achieves the near impossible of being more gimmicky than the Wii. I'm sure we're all aware of the Xbox One's shortcomings. As for the PS4, its only merits are that we don't know much about it, and therefore in our hopelessly optimistic little minds, it may be more sensible than the others. However, given what we've seen with the controller and its touch screen in the middle of it and "share" button, I see no reason to think that the rest of it won't be just as gimmicky and bloated as the Xbone.

All I can say it just hope and pray (if you're into that) that Microsoft doesn't continue trying to turn Windows into an iOS clone. If we lose PC to this bullshit as well, I might just be done with gaming altogether, as much as it pains me to even think such a thing.
