A lot of Freespace 1 and 2 recommended here. There's no doubt those are both fantastic games - but no mention at all of I-War? I'd rate Independence War Deluxe as high as Freespace 2.
It is a fantastic and unique space shooter, there are frigging space cruisers with graffiti on them!

The best game on GoG is Arcanum. It's the best CRPG game or RPG game that I've played and having been gaming since '78 that's a whole lot of RPGs I've gone through including Quest for Rings on the Odyssey 2 and Dragon Stomper on Atari 2600.

In fact, Arcanum is such an awesome game that I refused to purchase it on GoG because I already owned a hard copy. =D

I can't believe no one's mentioned Total Annihilation yet. What an incredible game, even though it's more than a decade old. I just about fell out of my chair when I saw that it was available on GOG, and for a price that makes it an absolute steal.

Well that's probably because it was released many months after Gexecuter bought his game and this thread dropped off the board. You know, just saying.
