Wishbone: Knowing today's game industry, they'd probably turn it into a real-time tactical shooter, with loads of cutscenes.

Aliasalpha: Or a cheap gears of war knockoff with regenerating health, linear levels and heaps of bloom because its this season's "Xtreme!!!"

What's bloom?
I totally agree. The correct approach to remastering XCom is: You don't f&ck with a club sandwich!
ie, it's fine as it is. I would tweek it here and there though, add a couple of features. I've thought about this at great length. Every time I play I just think "Ooh, if only they had orbital bases and seasons and......"
But yeah, don't change the gameplay AT ALL.

Bloom is a lighting effect. If you look directly at a bright light source then it should appear brighter than if you are not looking directly at it. It also gets used with making games appear to model how the human eye would work. You are in the bright then go into a dark room. It goes very dark but then slowly your eyes adjust. Half Life 2 does this.
All X-COM UFO Unknown needs is high res graphics. I'm not even sure that full 3D would be a good thing as isometric was fine. But yes, modern computer capable and nice graphics. The gameplay is already great.

TheCheese33: I'll become interested when they announce Broken Sword.

That was already announced/re-released for DS/Wii..
Love this story:
"Our first game was codenamed, Vengeance, which is obviously a s***ty name. But as development drew to a close we couldn't settle on anything we liked. In the end I gave Alison Beasley, head of Mirrorsoft marketing at the time, a list of possible titles and asked her to choose between them. Of course, she picked out the one joke entry I added to the bottom of the list: Lure of the Temptress." When I explained that there was neither any luring nor a temptress in the game she suggested we add them sharpish. So we rewrote the story and characters to fit the name, adding a month to development time."

I know that. Talking about an iPhone version.
By the way, that story's awesome.
Another vote for hoping this comes out on PC... I have no interest in an iPhone or any other portable gaming, and little interest in playing an adventure game on Xbox.
