Hear ye! hear ye!

By King's decree the mighty kingdom of GOG is seeking for brave and valiant adventurers who will help to retrieve the great lost treasures from Ubisoft. The path ahead of those who will undertake this task is strewn with dangerous enemies and dreadful places. Many heroes won't come back in one piece, but for those who will succeed a great prize awaits at the end.

The first quest to become a GOG Hero starts today! We need you to help us spread the word about our new, upcoming Ubisoft releases. To do that all you need is just retweet this message "Become a GOG Hero, help spread the word about our new Ubisoft releases, and win a free GOG game #gogcom http://t.co/MJWo2JG" before Sunday, March 13 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. By completing this quest you'll automatically enter for a drawing of 1 of 100 free game codes from GOG.

That's only the first quest in the upcoming weeks. If you don't want to participate this time, don't worry. Everyone who participates in at least one quest will become a GOG Hero and will be eligible to win great loot with the big, special prize at the very end.

You're asking what's the grand prize? What is the main thing that every hero needs? (No, unfortunately we won't be giving away a princesses’ hand in marriage, sorry.) We'll reward the greatest GOG hero with a real sword, a GOG branded shield, and $150 USD worth of GOG games!

SmashManiac: I don't have a Twitter account for this 1st quest, but I'm curious: how much is the sword worth?
*appraise appraise*... I guess somewhere around 5000 gold pieces and 10 units of sulphur.
I wish my sword would have on the blade "NO UBISOFT DRM!" ;)

We're ordering an actual cuttin' sword.
"The final death toll was 12 people before the killer turned the sword on himself. It is believed he won the sword from a competition on GoG.com and after playing RPGs for 2 days straight he began re-enacting the battles. "They may have good prices and no drm but this is just the latest in a long line of questionable marketing strategies and we must now take action to end their dangerous schemes" authorities said. Back to you in the studio."

TheEnigmaticT: 1. We're ordering an actual cuttin' sword. That said, depending on where the winner lives we may not be allowed to ship you an actual sharp implement via post, in which case you'll get one with a dull edge. The shield is a re-enactor's shield that we're paying an artist to paint with the GOG logo.
Will the winner be able to make as many copies of the sword and shield as they want?
*sigh*

Times like this make me wish I have a twitter account, but as Yoda said, "Twitter does not make one great", I am afraid I'll have to pass :-P

No, but if you fuck up your sword and shield they'll send you another one.
Must we use evil Twitter to engage in this epic quest?
I am doing it right, right?

Got the name right and all so it must be me @greatestGOGhero

Neither did I, I'm making one. =P
Will "classic" Ubisoft games include Myst III, IV and V? Sad that only the Cyan-made Myst games are on GOG, and you can't buy the later games in the series at all.
irregardless of any claim to inherent costume value, GOG is one of the greatest submissions to PC gaming history and benevolent interest, that, win or not, we all "win". I own a ridiculous amount of the software which GOG distributes, but their dedication and contribution to PC gaming is second to none, and I am hard pressed to ignore their adaptation to current software and hardware specifications, (knowing that I am buying the same game twice,) realizing instead the opportunity to re-enjoy the same titles from yesterday, today.
Btw, I have realistic explanations - I know you guys don't have a pile of maiden princesses sitting in the storage closet - but could I at least get a Duchess? Really, I'll settle for a Duchess. I don't want to be greedy.
I noticed that the link in text (http://t.co/MJWo2JG) is different than the one created from the Tweet button (http://t.co/SznQc9Z). I assume that doesn't make a difference to winning, but perhaps you could make them the same just I'll stop worrying. :)

Far as I know, even getting a dull sword requires a license here in Israel. A friend of mine once had to get it. Besides, I'm sure my wife won't appreciate these (though my 9 month old probably will). I'll make do with game prizes. :)

2. There are a couple of tools that automate prize draws. And we don't need to know whose GOG account is tied to the winning tweets. As long as you're following @gogcom, we'll DM you with the code to your account and you can claim it as you will.
I didn't see anywhere in the text that following @gogcom is a requirement to win. Might be worth mentioning if it is.
Hey GoG, how about releasing Splinter Cell and the other PoP games?
I refuse this quest, me Lord! Even a proud Bard does not cheep and tweet like a lousy sparrow. Troglodytes troglodytes! I hope thy forthcoming quests will be better than chirping!
