I'm doing this to avoid Steam, and from the looks of it these are free of it. However, I don't know how the DRM on these things are.

Thoughts?
Desura - Definitely.

More hands on with the developers themselves, more games, MODs, specials and Beam Dog pulled one of the two games I had bought from them and removed it from my library without warning.

Writing to Beam Dog support doesn't get a reply back.
Desura

Though keep in mind they have added free content to the steam release and not put it into the versions on other sites. Not sure if this is an oversight or intentional.

Fuck, I'd buy from Steam, maybe even Impulse, before I'd resort to Beamdog. Meanwhile, Desura is in the same league as GOG and GamersGate for me. Plus, they're the only one of those three that fully supports Linux.

Desura is the shit, man.
I didn't know it was on Desura, so I bought it from Steam a while ago.

Anyway, the Steam version includes the Exile DLC for free, which adds five new levels, which expands the game considerably. Also, new enemies.
Desura is the way to go.
Given the choice, Desura for sure. Desura is a little slow on support issues, but you WILL eventually get a response, and their catalog is pretty good especially for indies. Beamdog, on the other hands, is just awful. Shitty support, shitty client, shitty everything. It essentially offers nothing that isn't handled better on another service.
Is there any always-online nonsense?
I can't believe they are making another Silent Hill movie. How does this series continue to survive? I just don't get it.

Game was originally released DRM-free, IIRC, so there shouldn't be.
Desura definitely, but it's probably run by gay liberals so you might not like it.

LMAO, +1
I don't have experience with Beamdog, but Desura is wonderful. Great game client, great community features, and most of all the ability to download your games and run them outside of the client.

I really wish more people gave Desura consideration. I'm no Steam hater, but for a lot of the indies Desura is a great alternative to Steam. I don't know how they do with sales, though, and that's Steam's major draw.

Oh lord, I've mentioned Steam. Unintentional thread hijack/diversion.
Easy.Desura everyday.

I literally hadn't heard of Beamdog until the enhanced version of BG was announced, so personally I'd go with Desura.
