I only ragequit PEOPLE.

And COUNTRIES.

And PLANETS.

Seriously, my patience for games has decreased a lot with the years, so I paradoxally ragequit less than I used to. I yawnquit. At first sign of annoyance or boredom, or impression that I should invest more into it in order to pass one obstacle. I don't reach anymore the point where I feel cheated despite of my best efforts.

Also, yawnquit and ragequit are necessary in adventure games, as the solution often appears immediately when you come back to the game after having left it for a while.

I'm a "talker" when it comes to games and I'm having entire conversations with the devs about what I find wrong with their game when I play. It usually involves me telling them what idiots they are and asking how ANYONE could think this (gameplay) would be a good idea. But I don't really rage-quit because I get stubborn and just do my best to get through a hard fight/section of a game and THEN I may quit. In other words I only rage-quit after I beat the frustrating fight.

Personally I think the wireless controller was invented to prevent game-testers from strangling the devs during beta-testing because that's what I would have done on many occasions.

I ragequit FTL a LOT of times, but started the game up a few minutes later each time. I don't think I've ever played any other game that was both so addictive and so rage inducing.

I rage quit EVE earlier today, Kept getting closed socket errors and eventually thought "fuck it ill finish stuff in the garage"

That was about 2 hours ago and I haven't got off my ass yet

I finished most NES classics and I never ragequit in any of them (Contra, Batman, Megaman 1, 2 and 3, those Turtles games, Castlevenia etc).

The only game where I ragequitted was World of Warcraft. A few years ago I was raiding and I was the only Rogue in the raid. Did top DPS and didn't die. Then at the final boss rogue-only loot dropped, which could only be sold for 5g or something. Then the raidleader kicked everyone out of the raid before giving us the loot. He ninja'd it while he couldn't even use the damn thing.

That's when I quit WoW and never came back.

0 abandoned games, about 170 victories for me :P





Anyway, last one that I can remember (might be a more recent example that I've conveniently forgot about) goes to Disciples 3: Renaissance, a game that I tried for the first time earlier this year.
First level throws a huge elven death squad your way. If you are not prepared for it, you'll lose (and you need to have played the level to be prepared for it). So on my first attempt at the first level I lost.
Frustrating, but I decided to give it another try. Killed the elven death squad. Before I've had time to heal up my troops, another one appears, and kills my army.
That made me, out of frustration, uninstall the game.

I can explain it ;) One word: graphics. Sounds strange, huh? I admit - the game looks absolutely beautiful. I appreciate they put a lot of stress on that but they somehow overdid it. It happened so many times that I confused something from the background with a "real" object and died because of it. Most of the cases it was a thief who suffered most: "Cool!" - I though - "I'll jump here, grapple this wooden thing and reach this ledge" Too bad! The wooden thing turned out to be a part of a background. Lava/spikes/bottomless pit here I come!

All kind of walls/gates were also annoying. They cover my view and many times I didn't realize that there was just one more little skeleton hiding over there. By the time I realized it someone was dead already. And it even happen once that after some gate or other passage that blocked my view there was a ledge and bottomless pit below. That was the biggest ragequit ;)

I hate it when I fail because of the graphics. Mind you, I have nothing against well hidden secrets. But I expect that if something is easy to spot for a character should be easy to spot for me. This dreaded skeleton was in the field of view of my thief, heck it was like two meters away from her!

That's way I think they slightly overdid the graphics. I'm certain that it could have been done properly - after all Giana Sisters managed to accomplish it perfectly. IMHO the game is even more beautiful and I never had any problems of that kind.

And one more thing... it's not the reason of ragequitting but I would like to mention it nevertheless: characters are very poorly balanced. Wizard is almost useless, you use him just for a few seconds to conjure an object and you are done with him. Furthermore in the middle of the game, when your thief gained a few nice skills you can beat 90% of any level playing only with her, switching to other characters when she absolutely cannot achieve something on her own. That's not a good feature.

Demon's Souls. To the point of almost throwing the controller against the TV.

If we're talking ragequit as in "Screw it, I don't need this right now!" when you're failing at a particular point in a game, then I'd have to say "all the time". Or at least "all the time when I'm playing a game where you actually can get stuck like this" which for me was a couple of weeks back when I played Alpha Protocol.

If we're talking ragequit as in "ARARGHLARGHLBLARGHLARG!!!!11 *expletive* *throws controller* *expletive* *expletive* and your mother with a goat and three cauliflowers!!!" then never...

Yesterday... There is a mission in commandos that is just insane!! Way to many nazis!!! Aghh damn adictive game!!

BF3, everyday.

Nah, no ragequitting. Resorted to cheats some times, or gave up and said I'd try it later (on an easier difficulty)! :)
