I do know where that comes from. I have seen previous posts from you where you clearly said that "Zelda and Mario are casual games for kids" or something like that. If you don't like Nintendo's franchises, it's fucking obvious that you won't like Wii U or any other console from Nintendo. Nintendo's main strength lies exactly in their franchises. So yes, you are biased. You just don't like Nintendo, which is fine, it's your opinion, not mine. But let's at least get facts straight here.

The WiiU is going to be the core gaming platform of choice next generation. Get with the times.

I actually think that you are the one who should look at that word's definition. You just bash whatever comes out from Nintendo. For me you are biased.

I can perfectly understand if you don't like Nintendo's games. You are free to like or dislike whatever you want. But saying that these games are the same thing every time just shows that you have no clue of what you're talking about. I doubt you have even played the latest games from these franchises to say such a thing.

Nintendo is actually one of the only big developers to keep their franchises fresh with new ideas on every new iteration. No Mario or Zelda game feels the same as the last one. Just look at Zelda and how every game in the series is unique and different. The art style changes (from the cel-shaded Windwaker to the more realistic Twilight Princess), gameplay always has something new (the day cycles in Majora's Mask, the sailing in Windwaker, the train in Spirit Tracks) among other improvements. The same goes for Mario (the brilliant FLUD mechanic in Sunshine, the planet level design in Mario Galaxy 1 and 2). You can call these games boring or whatever, but you really can't blame Nintendo for the lack of innovation and originality.

Let's give credit where it's due.

"Many" is pushing it, "some" sure. But it's not like games like The Force Unleashed were anything like their XBox 360 or PC equivalents, Wii ports of core games often suffered heavily in the quality department.

I'm only speaking of 3rd party titles, something that is usually notably absent from Nintendo living room consoles, which is too bad, honestly.

Most core gamers let their Wii gather dust, if most anecdotes are to be believed.

I'm not trying to bash titles like Mad World, because they were good, but they're notable as exceptions on the Wii.

With a 600-ish price tag it'll need more than that and it'll need it before the hype machine for the PS4 and NextBox starts, or they'll get Dreamcast-ed. This is my personal opinion and read of the situation.

I don't actually want Nintendo to fail, but they're being kind of extreme even for Nintendo.

That tablet thing is sold separately, from what I read, and will make up the difference to around 600:)

well it is not it says so in the source, unless you mean buying another tablet for more people in the household

Where did you read that? If you go read the package info you'll see it comes with one of those touch screen controllers.

Edit: If your talking about getting a second one, no games use it yet and so it isn't even being supported on release. Currently all the multiplier games use one tablet controller and the regular Wiimotes.

Except you're only meant to use one tablet. They're going to carry on selling Wiimotes, nunchucks and classic controllers.
They said they might support two tablets in the future, but there aren't any games announced yet that could use two.

My point is, it's intended to be either:

one tablet or one Wiimote+nunchuck (or whatever) for single player

one tablet and three Wiimote+nunchucks for four players

or four Wiimote+nunchucks for four players

Everyone seems to have this weird idea that you're supposed to get 4 tablets. It comes with one tablet, that's all you need.
