Gundato: The problem comes from when a parody becomes that which it is parodizing.
For a perfect example, watch the first Starship Troopers movie (with NPH as a nazi!). It tried to make a parody/satire of all the various war movies that came out around WWII (like the book did), but it went too far and became an homage to them. It was intended to be a clever jab at action movies and the like, and instead just became a really awesome movie about heroic marines blowing stuff up :p

That's just because nobody likes heavy-handed satire (which is why the Starship Troopers book sucked so much) :p
Plus, seriously, Casper Van Dien before his chin inflated to obscene proportions. Dina Meyer topless. Doogie Houser as a nazi/psyker. Michael Ironside as Michael Ironside. Hell, it even had Clancy Brown. That was just a work of art...
But I hope you can still see my point. It is like Nietche said: If you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.
