Bayonetta was freaking brilliant. It's pretty much DMC with a female protagonist, sure, but thats what makes it fantastic. I'm a huge DMC fan, and I enjoyed Bayonetta even more. The difference in the gameplay is pretty big. Bayonetta is just so dang fun to play right off the bat. The soundtrack is fantastic, the visuals are a huge upgrade from the recent DMC (Talking about 4, not reboot) and the boss fights and over the top moments are fantastic.

Whenever I play a DMC game, it takes me to about the halfway point or second playthrough for me to get into the gameplay, because of how much of Dante's (or whoever else's) moves are all locked away from the beginning. It's a blast unlocking them again, sure, but in Bayonetta the moves you unlock are even cooler, and the moves you start with still make you feel like end game DMC.

I really hoped for a sequel. :(
I still have to beat Vanquish. Funny thing is that I bought both Bayonetta and Vanquish at the same time at the store.

Are you fucking kidding me? Who are you to bash these titles with no reason whatsoever? Expressing your opinion is one thing, but saying that these games are mediocre is simply pathetic. Especially when both were very well received, Bayonetta has a metacritic score above 90 and Vanquish has something close to that. Bayonetta was praised by most people as one of the best action games this generation. And theyre mediocre? To me it sounds that you are butthurt PC gamer that got pissed because none of them were released on PC. It they were, they would be the best games ever.

You're not giving Bayonetta quite as much credit for its cleverness as is its due.

And I'll go out on a limb and say DMC 4 wasn't very good. Bayonetta was much better and managed to make a social statement to boot.
I'll be honest, I didn't dig the Vanquish demo enough to actually buy it (the story looked compelling, but the gameplay didn't draw me in). But largely, you're right, they are generally some of the games of this gen with superior production values.

To be honest i regret paid full price for my boxed DMC4. It feel old and tired pretty fast, around mission 8 or 10. I'm doing the same thing over and over again in cliche settings, environment and plot. At least in DMC3, bosses fight were damn good and the story doesn't bored me a bit and Virgil as bonus unlockable character alone worth the price.

Sure you can, if there was a team working on it and funding being spent on it, ceasing the funding and the team's work pretty can be fairly characterized as "cancelling" the game. Just because they hadn't got to the point of spending budget on promotion doesn't mean it didn't exist.

I also made previous posts before the game came out, how EA's terrible business policies and Bioware's incompetence and decline in quality/standards would lead to an inferior game with multiple issues, the reactions on the forums were hilarious "you are just a troll!" "you don't like anything!" "ME3 will be fantastic!" and so on

In the end: I turned out to be completely right as always

Uh what? Played them both on Xbox 360 and I've never said they are bad games.... but "the best".... no they aren't. Bayonetta is a DMC + couple of more combos & female protoganist. Nothing that special.
