Holy crap this is my most anticipated game of 2009 hands down. The trailer made me go absolutely nuts.
For those that don't know Bayonetta is an upcoming game being developed by PlatinumGames (Viewtiful Joe, Okami, God Hand, MadWorld) for the 360 and PS3. You could call it a Devil May Cry knock-off, but it looks so far ahead of DMC.
Here's the website: http://bayonetta.jp/
I really hope this game comes to the PC someday so it can show up on GOG in a decade or so, lol.

Well it looks fun, but better than Devil May Cry? That depends on witch's style :-P For Dante, I have a nice warm spot in my refrigerator (..What did you think? No way I'm letting that guy ANYWHERE in my body! Firstly, I'd rather allow some women in there and secondly, I've seen what he can do when he's inside). Dante's cool. Better yet, one of the cool-est character in gaming - and that just because Alucard from Hellsing can't possibly be matched by anyone. Ehm, back to the game. Interesting thing is 'as you fight more, new fighting possibilities will open to you', but, well, it's not some miracle either, or it doesn't look like one. Since I don't want to break all my fingers on controller, I guess I won't make it to advanced combos anyhow :D Main heroine is interesting, but I've never even hear her talking - and I really liked when Dante said something :-P But it may be caused by a number of trailers I've seen - meaning two. Conclusion? I'm not looking forward to the game, but it sure seems fun. Oh, and I don't have console, too, so I can play it only with my friend watching :D
I'll wait till it's out and then assess whether it's as good as it is presented now. And looks like clone of DMC...
Just looks like DMC with more boobies to me.
Saw the trailer. Flashy with a stupid name (why not call it 'Knifette' or 'Swordessa' o_O)
I'd prefer a round Alpha Centauri any day ;P

The dialogue is sooo cheesy! :P But the gameplay looks cool. It's like the spiritual successor to Devil May Cry, which was totally awesome. Definitely on my To Buy-list.
You're not alone Urb4nZ0mb13.... btw that might be the weirdest nick-name I've ever seen. :P
Hah, someone gave me a -1 :P Why?! :D

Not necessarily a BAD thing, if it'll be as stylish as Devil May Cry - boobs are baaad, meaning they'll get in a generic nice girl and everyone is happy, but they are good, if it's done in a right way

There you go, +1 to knock out the jerk that gave you a -1 for no good reason.
Also Urb4n Z0mb13 is Urban Zombie in L337 as in the Earthbound enemy of the same name. And Earthbound is probably my favorite RPG to date, so yeah...

I don't see the downside to this. Never been a big fan of DMC. Playing as metrosexual demon hunters made me feel insecure about my manliness. However, replace the main character with a hot sexy female witch then I'm all for it.
I do have to say though, with all the political correct attempts at portraying "strong" female characters in games, it's refreshing to see a character that is unabashedly all about what we really only care about women in videogames. Honestly we just need some pretty eye candy to ogle while we mash buttons and wiggle our joysticks. And if you disagree with me then I can't argue, because you're just obviously gay.
Background graphics are drop-dead gorgeous. Pity they had to go spoil it with a main character (doesn't seem to me she deserves the respect of the title "heroine") who brings Barbarella to mind.
*gags repeatedly*
(BTW I'm a -female- gamer.)
Gay... or a woman was what I meant earlier. I forgot about them.
Great now I have a -1 rating for believing in free speech.

LOL Well I wouldn't rate you down for it. Just saying clearly our game preferences differ. Even some women may like Bayonetta. :)
I have to be honest, I'm mostly excited for this based on the developers previous work. God Hand, Viewtiful Joe, and Okami were all extraordinary games that have a special place in my heart.

Count me as one of them!
I first saw the trailer without sound, and was awe-struck at how stylish it looked! I later saw it again with sound though, and the voices definitely seem to make it a little tackier, but even then, I can't help but admire how outward it is.
Still though, it's one of the upcoming games that I'm most looking forwards to, right next to Mirrors Edge. Games with a bold sense of style are wonderful things.

Games with a bold sense of style = games with female leads? jk I know what you mean
You should look into MadWorld, same developer, bold sense of style, etc.
