@iippo: fucking do it, man, get some armour and join them! It seems like these guys aren't professional athletes or anything, which makes it even cooler.

Personally id probably have some sort of flanged club perhaps + nice shield, suitable for bashing and pushing.

While i like swords, i dont see them exactly "cutting it" in this competition...

2H option would be either (quarter) staff or some sort off polearm with hook.

If I got to choose anything. Good old sword and shield combo.
And if I had some sort of strategy, I'd try to stay in pretty close to opponent so normal attacks would be tough on them, and make great use of shield bashing, pommel strikes. :P
