Not really a surprise, since the original used the client for gamerscore and DLC. It's interesting that Eidos has gone this route, since the owner (square enix) uses steam.

I hope this one uses a simple disc check like it's predecessor at retail, since that's the route I'll go for this release. Bang GFWL in offline mode and you have an almost drm free game, plus cheaper then DD.

Thoughts?

Provided the implementation is similar/the same as with 'Arkham Asylum', then I have no problem with it.

Funny thing is that I was expecting it to take a great big massive dump all over me, as this is usually my luck :-)

But in my limited one-game experience with GfWL, it's not been an issue.

I think this game is just Warner Bros Interactive, I don't think Eidos is involved anymore.

As for GFWL I have never really minded it. For singleplayer it's pretty irrelevant and singleplayer is all I play.
GFWL has worked fine for me every time so I don't mind. I won't be able to purchase any DLC but AA only had extra challenge map so it's not a big loss.
I'm not a fan of GFWL, but most of my problems come with the setup process. It's a little annoying to install a new game through it, but the worst is your first time using it. First impressions are a big thing and that initial AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA WHAT THE HELL moment ruined it for me.

Arkham City is not an Eidos title. Arkham Asylum was.

I didn't (surprisingly) have many problems with GFWL, but I don't play in multiplayer so that may be the reason :P.

It's better than it use to be, but I'm not a big fan of it. In all fairness, the original Arkham Asylum had the least obtrusive version of GFWL so it probably won't be a big issue.

Guess that means I get to keep a higher gamerscore than my brother who owns a 360!
Great news. Means there's no way Valve can shaft me on the release date.

Oh ok then. Any idea why the publisher changed hands?

Well, for one thing, DC is a part of WB. I think the real surprise is that Eidos published the first one.

Warner Bros. Interactive just didn't want to do all the publishing work last time, they were still pretty small. This time they decided to do it all themselves, and generally are a much larger publisher now.
Many games have tools to remove GFWL. Batman is popular enough that it's likely to be the same.
No sale here then, Nothing personal against GFWL but i really don't want to install things on my computer and i don't see the need to use programs to load up games (i only use steam because of it's crazy sales). What wrong with just installing a game Via disc or digital download and playing it?

Well i might pick it up a few months after release for PS3 when it's like £10 or something.

I'll keep this brief as the forum software has once again eaten my post.

You don't need the loader to play, you use it once, then you can bypass it by using the games executable file. I used to do that with FO3 when I was playing that.

You can bypass it? That sounds good, i do have a copy of dirt 2 on steam but haven't installed it due to GFWL, any links or google searchs on how i can find out how to do this?
