amok: Yes, thread is deleted... That is not automatic though, is it? It needs a moderator.

HypersomniacLive: Not sure it's actually the case as I can't access the forum at all (two different IPs). When I try https://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/, I get the message
The requested URL /forum/ was not found on this server.

HypersomniacLive: The exact same message when trying the specific thread. Can anyone else give it a try?
That link doesn't work with "https", only with "http".
Maybe using sweetcheekslover666 as a forum name wasn't such a good idea after all ;-).

You're right, HTTPS Everywhere tricked me.
If it was indeed because of mentioning Desura and not some mistake, I think they're being a bit over-sensitive.

@Starmaker
SirPrimalform said he's got a static IP, wouldn't that be a problem in regaining access to that forum?

F1ach: Set up another profile on your PC, you can try to login with that.
avatar
SirPrimalform: I'll still have the same external IP address since I'll be going through the same router, to the same cable modem, through the same cable which Virgin has assigned a static IP address. I'm fairly certain a new profile/login on Windows won't change any of that, sorry. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Zchinque: The specified thread does not exist. I'd shout at them on Twitter. Always seem to help.

SirPrimalform: Maybe... I'll probably do that later. For now I have a band practice to be at and must be away!
I'm banned from Steam for life, but I can access it through a diff profile.

Pardon for this question but...what exactly does "Sweetcheeks" mean anyway?

Is that like an American thing they say to women or what?

Tasty buttocks?

Hmm, they don't look to active on Twitter actually.

The Steam forums or banned from your actual Steam account? I can only assume that the ban that you've found a way around is due to something on your computer. A new profile definitely won't fix an IP ban on a static address.

Steam forums only bans user names. You can have as many alts you want there and troll yourself. Got banned? make a new account.

Steam Forum.
I probably missed something, but I don't see how your thread couls have been much more spammy than that one :

http://www.frictionalgames.com/forum/thread-10401.html

which seems quite accepted, and rather close in content.

I can't view it, can you quote the text of it?

"I purchased the game from your site on October 5th, 2010. With the release of the Linux version of Desura, it'd be awesome to have Amnesia in my games list. Is it possible to get a Desura key to activate the game with proof of purchase?"

Thanks, that's very similar to my original post, including offering proof of purchase.

Thanks! Well I guess that answers my question, but it's still weird they banned me. Maybe they went "Another one of these threads!? I can't take it any more!".
