Look what source code of www.baldursgate.com says:

<!-- February 13, 2012 -->
<!-- Shadowy Figure- Raise Dead : Infinity Engine -->
<!-- oh dear it's coming soon -->

Who owns that domain?
Does it mean Badur's gate 3 or other game using Infinity engine?
Is it only joke?

Questions, questions....
Interesting... Whatever it is (if anything at all) I doubt it will be using the Infinity Engine though.

Would be delicious if it did, though :D
Someone floated the idea of iOS/Android ports. Seems possible. But a new game would be better.

From the looks of it the domain is up for sale. Then again I'm a noob at this but doesn't look particularly promising.

Why? Just because the engine produced a lot of good games doesn't make the engine itself good. It would take more effort than it's worth trying to revive that engine now. It would probably be easier to start over again.
It might be about this:

I think Interplay is behind this.

Downloading the theme.mpg from here: http://www.baldursgate.com/audio/theme.mp3

Checking the file details - "Owned by Interplay Productions"

Probably a HD remake using the Infinity Engine. That would be my guess.

Don't forget Interplay recently released both Earthworm Jim & MDK2 in HD. So that might be it.

If it is official I expect it to just be an iOS/Andriod/PSP port of existing titles. I can't see anyone using the infinity engine for a new title.

Fairly certain Atari retains the rights to Baldur's Gate and not Interplay.

Anyway, the website is Go Daddy. Doesn't scream official.
Yep Atari holds the rights for Baldur's Gate and this rumour is from 2008 ;)
Every couple of years a rumour floats around about a new BG, Planescape or Fallout coming out on the infinity or some other classic engine. But until they all become license free in about 150 years I doubt we will see anything. Oh well, I suppose we should just be happy that we are getting a new Diablo.

A lot of sites are hosted at that shitty place. Official and non-official.
Infinity engine? Looks like I might never play this series.

While I am not a game developer and know very little about "resurrecting" the engine - it has been used to produce some excellent games that even 20? years later still load from disc and play very well on modern machines. This engine deserves some attention at least.
