iainmet: According to Eurogamer this morning Beamdog is the developer and they will be making an official announcement shortly :

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-02-29-website-teases-new-baldurs-gate

"Beamdog issued a statement confirming an announcement proper is on the way. It does not relate to the rumoured Steam re-releases of the original series."

I know its another link confirming kind of the same stuff but you know what its like. More stories you read and you can start piecing together what is going on. Looks like this one is a go finally after to many years away.

I hope they stick with an isometric POV and dont do a whole 3D affair like the Dragon Age games. If Blizzard can pull off Diablo 3 as isometric I hope Beamdog stick with the way the origional games were done. They need to stick to their guns and do this right for the fans.
With the remakes these days I wouldn't be shocked if it's a first person game where the mainly used spell is magic missile and auto-magic missile.

Yeah with aim assist and an airstrike would be something like a meteor storm, or a bow & arrow that had lenses attached to it so it worked like a sniper scope!
BALDUR'S GATE 3! i hope so....

The domain is hosted by Beamdog, where work some former Bioware employees, btw.

Probably a third person action RPG with a heavy multiplayer component, outsourced/developed by some russian studio for hire.
Most likely iPad conversion ;/
I'm really excited for this, no matter what the outcome is going to be at least there is something going on!
Source changed:

At the top:
<!-- February 29, 2012 -->
<!-- Shadowy Figure- Raise Dead : Infinity Engine -->
<!-- Take heart fellow adventurers, for you have curried the favor of Boo, the only miniature giant space hamster in the Realm! -->

Then at the bottom

<!-- I can teach you how to use your wrath. -->

Sounds like 1.
I'm betting on a graphical overhaul, Baldur's Gate HD. Sounds much more likely than a new game (I can't imagine they would actually resurrect the Infinity Engine in order to create something new).

Leroux: I'm betting on a graphical overhaul, Baldur's Gate HD.
Probably that, following up from MDK2 HD. Which won't be terribly exciting news, if you ask me, but I've been saying that about most remakes.

I can't really imagine anyone doing a sequel using the Infinity Engine. Mostly because the story is finished and the IP has always been terribly generic, so there's little point in reviving it.
Is this trailer for real?

They can't spell the name right.

The minor change in the name reminds me of XCOM. Now I guess that the new Baldur's Gate will be a linear corridor shooter.
The owner of the site said on twitter, that they're working on something that requires to use Mac to do so.

So it has to be Apple conversion...
If you look at Beamdog as a company they don't have nearly the personal or resources to make a game...

what they do have is the ability to create an HD version of a game that already exists... they did so with MDK2 and did a very nice job...

Since the symbol is the same and its in "HD" and the mention of the infinity engine 2 and Beamdogs history Im going to say this will not be a new game but a HD remake..

From Trent @ Beamdog forums: "With regards to the level art, it was mostly 3D, with the outdoor areas as a mix of hand work and stamped pre-rendered elements."
