$20 is steep considering on PC all they are selling is the added content. I wouldn't mind messing with those new characters but I'm not paying $20 to do it. Everything else we have through mods.

Also I don't want to use a new site to buy games, insane or not. Sick of new sites and new accounts. It says no client required (though the launcher still has DRM surely), but still... meh.

They've had a page with info up on the game for a while now, and the countdown led me to believe that they were releasing the game right now. Alas, I'll have to wait until September.

That being said, I used to be bullish on this - until they announced the price tag. $20 is, IMHO, a little too steep for what seems to be something that I can already do with WINE or CrossOver, a GOG copy of BG, and community mods. I was holding out for some hope that there would be more to it than just a few extra characters and one dungeon, but given that they couldn't even make actual high-res art for the game (or BG2/ToB), the prospects for this game look less and less promising.
At $9.99 though, I'd be more enthusiastic.
I wonder if they'll ask gog to take down the BG version here when its released.
Yeah, it looks to be an obvious cash grab in hopes of making a quick buck for little cost and lure people into Beamdog (I think one way they could get people to use it is to make it look less like a cheap knockoff of Gamer's Gate.)

on the plus side, the Wild Mage looks cute. but not cute enough to get me to drop another 20 on a game I already own on GoG.

Oh yes, you will! I'm pretty sure this is an attempt to test the waters for the demand for a new Infinity Engine game, or some kind of Baldur's Gate 3 kickstarter or something like that. Everybody will buy at least one copy, I command it.

And don't forgot about the possibility of Planescape Enhanced. Who knows how that'll turn out.

Anyway, literally no desire to get this for PC, but it's a bit tempting to acquire it on iPad.

What does that mean, you're "a bit tempted"? I said it was a command!

If this thing fails, you will all suffer my terrrible wrath! Or at least pitiful whining.

But, but, but it doesn't even have fancy new graphics. D:

Actually, that's my main concern: How much of a market there is for it. The vast majority of people who played the original will probably stick with it, as most of the changes seem fairly small, and the game's dated enough that it'll be tricky drawing in new players.

You're right, only we can convince the game industry to create new games based on old franchises! How else will we ever get a new Diablo or Max Payne or Fallout or KOTOR or Deus Ex?

We simply must convince them to start exploiting our nostalgia.

Normally I tend to resist authority but in this case considering there is a Mac version coming out in September, I think I will comply and buy. ;-)

Not interested in paying $20 for extra content. I will only buy this if the price becomes less than $10.
Are they actually enhancing the graphics and sound in this edition? They ought to be for what they are charging.
The graphics (mostly terrain) in some of the new areas they've added look pretty bad.
Oh great, new Bioware content. I guess I can look forward to my Half-Orc Barbarian getting unsolicited romantic encounters of the homosexual kind then, just like DAO.
