True, but at least it doesn't like super small on high resolutions, that's something, right?

Also, I've heard that this game support zooming feature, is that correct?

That is correct, you can see this feature in action in the gameplay video:

Thanks. Of course that kind of zooming isn't anything extraoridinary (it was used in some 2D games before), but it kinda solves the problem with super small objects in high resolution.

Good to know, will buy. For 10 bucks at MOST :P And not on their fucking beamdog store. I think that's the only thing stopping me. If it was avaible on GOG or Steam, I would buy it.

Azilut: I laughed out loud at these comparison screenshots. Seriously? You made the "old" shots 1/4 the size of the "new" ones? What, did you think people wouldn't notice?

Yeah, it looks like BG2! Awfull!
The zooming feature is utterly horrible, as BG is a 2D game all it does is blur the pixels. Also my eyes might be faulty but it looks like they've put a dithering overlay onto the game. You CANNOT zoom out far enough that the game actually scales correctly. If you use the widescreen mod on normal BG1 there's no zoom and the game scales correctly to whatever resolution you set it to when running the patch.

The fact that you cannot zoom out completely to scale, plus the big ugly new GUI that looks horrible on widescreen monitors, leads me to conclude that this "Enhanced Edition" was designed purely as an iPad tablet port.
I don't know. From what I've seen it's not that bad. It gives you more distance to look at, compared to the original, but yet things are not super tiny like they were in widescreen mod.

It's not that bad. But as I've said - 10 bucks at most, preferably 5 ;P
Ah, yes. Vanilla Baldur's Gate vs Enhanced Edition. Jeez, the least they could have done is use a widescreen mod for those screenshots. It's laughably unfair.

Well, if Bethesda / ZeniMax used mods to compare Doom 3 BFG with Doom 3 + awesome mods, they would be in deep shit too :P

Yes and no.... strictly speaking, the only official version is the vanilla one, so it is not unfair to compare the new official one vs the old official one.
For better or worse, unsupported 3rd party mods should not be taken into account by the official source when describing new features... on the other hand, if that is done by indipendent reviewers and/or end users, than they may also throw all the fix&tricks into the equation to show the real state-of-the-art before and after

Not to mention any official Skyrim DLC compared to vanilla+mods...

I see a lot of people making this mistake but when using the widescreen mod you don't need to set it to the full resolution of your monitor. For IE games I use 1280x800 even though my monitor is 24"@1920x1200 and it looks fine.

Yeah, you sort of though. Unwritten rule to use native resolution with a LCD monitor. :P

Anyway, what's the hate with the new GUI? I like it more than the original.

Oh, thanks. I'll keep that in mind next time.

Yeah, I know but this is one of the times to ignore that rule.

You do want to pick a resolution that's a nice fraction of the native one though. Mine is 2/3 but a half resolution display (960x600 here) will be big and sharp and still better than either original or maxed.

P.S. Note that I have a 16:10 monitor, for a 24" 16:9 you'd want to try 1280x720 or 960x540

Yeah, I actually tried 1280x720 on my 16:9 monitor for BGT but that was before I found the font mod as the small interface didn't really bother me, more so the small text and after that I returned to 1920x1080.

Personally, I'm going to wait until they fix the current issues and lower the price even though I've a perfect (ok not perfect, it crashes when I use map pins) working GOG copy of both BG and BG2 added with BGT. Why? I like the new GUI and they probably fixed things with AI, rather tough for modders to do that without the source code.
