So basically it is same thing we get for Witcher 1&2 for free, except for Witchers we have expanded story that we couldn't have it by ourselves, and with BG we could have it almost all with mods with some hassle.

liquidsnakehpks: uh looking at the videos , it does not feel that enhanced to me as the notes say....

i mean the original + mods does get the job done, multiplayer is a curious thing though
Thank you for mentioning the multiplayer. I had forgotten to list that too in my post which I just corrected.
An enhanced edition should take it the full way, I was expecting like a total remake in the Dragon Age engine, voice actors (maybe the option to disable them if you want), etc.

I don't see a reason to get this, the old version works just fine. There are just a few improvements and they sell it as a new game.

Hm, I never liked BG's intro much, but I'm surprised they managed to make it worse. It looks good in a "what a nice looking indie game" way, except that it isn't indie. And it feels hollow and even more cheap and cheesy than the original one.

I mean, where is all that blood coming from at the end? That poor guy's armor sure is leaky. :D

I disagree. The point with this one was to fix old issues and get it to run on modern computers, not to a full blown remake. That changes the feel of the game, I don't think that ever was intended.

And as always the expression "works just fine" means one's standard is rather low. What if someone wants the game to work better than just fine? ;)

I agree about the price tag though. They should have sold it through all DDs including GOG with a DRM-free copy. Hopefully that happens in due time.

Nirth: I think it's disrespectfull to GOG to encourage piracy on their own forum but yes, it's a very valid point. No realistic harm from trying the game, at least that's my opinion.

As for the Enhanced Edition, the lack of faith in a remake in this thread (or overall in general to old games) is disappointing to say the least.

Anyway, besides the current issues I think it'll be worth it once they're fixed. I wonder how long it will take for them to sort them out.
Well there are plenty of people mentioning piracy all through these forums as long as it does not involve GOG games and last time i checked GOG was not selling this particular version.

Secondly, unlike most games, this is about a clear cut case as money grabbing by a developer as I can see, and who wants Hasbro, Atari or Beamdog to get any money...the first two have destroyed more franchises than helped.

How is this a lack of faith in a remake...I have seen better remakes by individuals who gave away there hard work for free. Had they actually made a true remake for the pc seperately from the ios and android versions then I might have given them more respect but from everything I see, i am not impressed. No a true remake would be levels higher than what I am seeing so far...so of course there is not going to be much faith. Especially if its bug filled and barely works. Sounds like a rushed, money grabbing project to me.

Let's not forget that non of the original creators of the infinity engine games were even involved, and were actually a bit surprised when this even popped out of thin air.

Finally this group wants to make Baldur's Gate III....come on, give me a break...they will fuck that up for sure if this is there first indication of ability. Sorry I would rather not see a BG3 than a crap fest, cartoony piece of shit like this.
Cartoony? Are you basing that of the new intro video? Is there anyone here who has no prejudice towards this remake and have actually played the game?

Aside from the initial bugs they have encountered (anyone that didn't expect some bugs is naive) I think it's a rather successful project. Their price tag is a bit steep but I'm sure that will be lower soon enough along with fixed issues.

And about BG3, you can simply ignore it if they release it. This mentality that a bad sequel or prequel destroys some series is delusional. You simply ignore it and if you can't, you had better learn.

Why do you think that anybody have prejudice towards this game?
If you want it, buy it. I don't want it because it is BGT+Tobex+BGfixpack+1pp+3 NPC mods+new GUI.
And all that modders did without source code. And these guys sell me that for 20$. No, thanks.
At least do something new, because you have source code!!

For people that don't want hassle with mods, OK, use BG:EE, but it is all that you get. You are paying for service, not new stuff.
I never had any problem with mods. I played BG earlier this year and had only 1 bug during all of BG1. And it was just 1 side-quest that didn't go as planned. Easily fixed by console.

Edit: forgot TOBex, sorry.

"A sequel or prequel cannot kill a series is delusional"....why do you think they have never made a Master of Orion IV....because MOO3 was horrible and destroyed the franchise, and no one will touch the name with a ten foot stick.

Yes, if your intro video looks cartoony and your screenshots are not pleasing then yes i can form an opinion from them without paying $20.

I have also watched: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI3qAdamk_o and seen the gameplay. I am not impressed.

Sure I could pay $20 to confirm my impressions=P

AND I would gladly love to play a Baldur's Gate 3...who would not want that...but come on...the quality is lacking...they have not done anything to get any praise in my opinion after viewing multiple sources and not just a trailer btw...

There are two big factors that would affect whether I buy BG:EE or not. The first is its performance on touchscreen platforms - that is a big benefit to the remake. Second is the modding situation - the various communities and mods big and small, serious and hilarious are a big part of my love for the game and a driving factor in my going back to play it again and again. Smoother running and no BGTUTU issues just isn't enough to compensate if I lose that.

At least they dropped that Nietzsche quote at the beginning. I've lost track of how many times I've seen that used in games.
Not seeing it on google play, has it been released for phones?

I didn't mean as kill the series for new games, I meant that they don't destroy the games earlier. I guess this is more of an opinion then but I don't understand at all how for example a third game in a trilogy destroyed the trilogy in case it was bad but the first two games were good.

If you judge games based on their intros then that's your problem and frankly, from screenshots. What did you expect? All they changed that can be seen through screenshots are the new GUI.

As for gameplay, I don't understand this either. It's enhanced edition, not a full blown remake to change actual gameplays. I think they never said or implied that, I think they have been very specific that all they wanted was to "fresh it up" so to say.

On the homepage it says "iPad november, Mac OS X november and android release TBA".
Well I am going to test it out. I will give it an honest go...however..so far...they already got one strike.

Graphics Options : one option...full screen...that is even worse than ports from other console games. Now of course I could be overlooking something, maybe an option outside the game or something...but thats pretty sad. If they enhanced the graphics they could have at least enhanced the options=P
