I remember.
I remember the Baldur's Gate series the most out of all games i ever played. I think it is a shame that we won't see another update to this prolific game in the future.
Maybe Bioware will pick up the francise and make another face-melting, epic of a game that will be a true inheritor of the legacy this game has. It has been a very long time since i had a RPG that so delighted my senses that just couldnt put it down. It was not just that game either. Planescape, the Icewind Dales only kept me jones-ing more for a third installment.
Never much cared for the Neverwinter Nights games, always felt they paled in comparision.
I will giggle like a school girl if they ever make another.
What are your thoughts?

I wouldn't want Bioware to do BG3 .....they seem to have fallen into a rut with their RPGs. Romances, recycled characters and plots run amok in their games now. I would rather have Obsidian doing it considering J.E. Sawyer and George Ziets are both working for them (and J.E. Sawyer is making a mod for NWN2 that will be the cancelled Interplay project known as The Black Hound reborn). Also, wasn't BG effectively finished with no room left for any other story?
BG3 = anyone but Bioware or Bethesda...

I tought ATARI was making BG3 (there have been lots of rumours). And as much as I liked Bioware before, I definately don't wan't them to make it now that they are part of EA :( I run out of store screaming Plague every time I see a box that have EA on it.

Atari owns the rights, but I don't think Atari they making it themselves. They sold off most of their development studios when they were in financial trouble. My bet is that they would get Obsidian to do it. As you say, it's unlikely that an EA-owned Bioware is going to make a game for Atari.

I don't see how. Interplay is barely breathing as is. I doupt they have strenght or resources to take on another project beside the Fallout Online they're working on (That will turn up Epic Fail in upteenth scale anyway).

Making them selves or having someone else make it for them. As I said, rumours have been around quite while. As for Bioware, isn't that Dragon something they're making supposed to be spiritual successor of BG series or something. Doesn't matter to me as I would not touch it with 10,000 mile pole as it will carry EA DRM infection anyway.

Yes, Dragon Age very much looks to be a spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate series, though it doesn't look nearly as great...
Even though they're part of EA now, I still have high hopes for Bioware.

Dragon Age is supposedly the spiriutal successor to BG, yes. But Dragon Age will be the litmus test for me. If it comes out with a DRM scheme similar to what they have on Mass Effect, then I'll consider games from BioWare/EA officially dead to me. And no, Steam availability won't change my view. Stream's just another bloody DRM scheme. I tried it out for Mass Effect, but won't be using it for any other games. I don't like it.

I agree, a bad DRM scheme will instantly make this a no-purchase for me. About a CD check is all I can handle these days, and even that's pushing it. I'll be on the fence about a Steam release.

I like the new DRM from EA. No disc-checks, but I have to activate online. I'm online 24/7 so that's not a problem. Having all those discs around makes my desk horribly cluttered, so EA's system is basically perfect for me.

Change your hardware a couple times or reinstall your OS and see if you still think it's a good DRM scheme, Zeewolf.

There's a tool that allows you to revoke installs, and even if you don't use that you'll just have to ask customer service and they'll help you. So I don't really see the problem.
Besides, I play through most games once. There's too much to play and too little time to bother with games again and again and again. So it's highly unlikely that I will have problems with this. And if I do, well, I know perfectly well how to get around it.

I realize that saying you don't mind a DRM scheme that's popular to hate on an internet forum is like cursing in the church. But whatever. EA has been using this system for a while now, and it's been perfect for me. If you guys prefer disc checks, then cool. Go back to Starforce, then. :-p
I don't want a flamewar, so let's just drop it and enjoy GoG who clearly have the best DRM solution anyway. :-)
