lowyhong: I highly recommend Tutu and the romance mods. They really add a whole new dimension to BG1 and 2. I can't remember the exact mods I downloaded when I did a playthrough, because that was about 3 years ago, but just look around, there's definitely something for everybody

I have installed EasyTutu, Degreenifier(3d water effects), NPCKits(allows NPCs to have specialised classes, e.g. Imoen as an Assassin rather than a plain thief), BG1NPCv1.7 (adds lots of banter + romances for BG1, like you get in BG2), SpawnRandomizer.
Its working quite well so far.

Wow!
$14 USD for all of them!? That's an incredible deal. :O
That would cost you at least $40 here.
Edit:
Does anyone know if they would ship to the US? :P

they do, you can even with your us amazon login data, but i dont know the shipping rate to the usa, i guess its to expansive due to it, i will look for a cheaper dealer with lower shipping rates to the us for you
Amazon's localized stores are a hidden gem for those who know how to use it. I bought The Orange Box off Amazon UK, and it's a five dollar saving over the US version. Hell yeah.

Zabrix: Who here thinks they should release Baldur's Gate 1+2? Maybe put them up together and sell them for like $9.99? Ive been wanting to play that game a lot lately but haven't been able to find it any where.

I already have BG1 and BG 2 + TOB from way back in the days and all. Great games.
I don't have BG1 Expansion, though.
I'd be great to see GOG get all of those old classics.
I think Atari has the BG License secured, though -- dunno if that would include the past Interplay BG's for them.
I don't think Atari has one game yet on GOG.

Yes, Atari owns both license to distribute the old D&D based games by Inerplay as shown by their rerelease of the BG & IWD game packs under their name couple years back. They also own license to continue the series so basically they bought all rights to the series. They also have D&D license so they can develop computer games using D&D rules and based on Forgotten realms setting if they so desire.
And no GOG has not yet managed to secude deal with Atari unfortunately.

Judging by the Riddick game Atari just released, which was a DRM fest without the like (Securom, separate online activation, and some in house bullshiit), I think the chances are as high as seeing a retarded mongoose fly the deserted liver of a blind wombat to the inner rings of Saturn. At this point at least.
It's a funny thing. Despite being a fixture on several BG-related boards (Still am), and knowing a handful of the people who've worked on the various mods out there, I've never really gotten into using all that many of them, myself.
I mean, granted, some of them really are quite good. Most of the interface improvement ones people do swear by. Things like allowing people to play through BG1 using the BG2 interface are pretty much mandatory these days, seeing as how the original BG is like, what? 11 years old? I mean, it's still a great game, but it does show its age.
There's also tons of stuff out there to "fix" things like broken quests or simply unfinished quests that the devs never managed to get done before the games actually shipped, so that's good, too. Plus, for the really hardcore players, there are mods to make certain key battles in the games a lot harder. (Something I've never actually looked into, but that, again, other players swear by.)
As for the various other things like the banter packs, flirt packs, extra NPCs, the other romantic subplots... well, some of them can be pretty hit or miss. But there's tons of material out there, and the links posted earlier in the thread are good places to start looking.
As for Tales of the Sword Coast which was mentioned earlier (i.e. the expansion pack to BG1. Eh, it's.... not so great. It's not bad, but I feel it goes under the category of "safely skippable." You're not missing much if you didn't go through it. Really, the original BG, BG2 and Throne of Bhaal are the only critical components. The series is pretty much a trilogy. as a result.
One pretty friggin' awesome trilogy. :D
There's a reason why I got hooked on the series and my obsession with it never really died.

Agreed... Sword Coast was pretty meh and pointless. I need to go steal my BG2 CD's back from my brother. I do have the BG1s though.

I must confess, I've never played Tales of the Sword Coast. I merely used the expansion to allow addtional XP gain.
Also, I have a copy of the Icewind Dale compendium (IWD1+2+exp.) which I've never played cos I hear its very action oriented... instead I'm just replaying the BG games...

You should try the IWD games. Despite being action oriented they're still very good. Amazing artwork and music, the story isn't half bad, and the encounters are superb. Icewind Dale 2 also has the best interface of all Infinity Engine games, IMO.
If you want more party interaction there are apparently mods that adds NPCs that can join your party, but I'm a character creation nutjob so I've never tried any of them.

What he said. I really enjoyed the first one and am looking forward to getting the addon and sequel eventually. The music/sound was something that really stood out for me at the time.
The IWDs -aren't- bad. That being said, in my opinion, they aren't great, either. The thing that really made BG stand out for me was the cast, something which IWD just doesn't have because... well, you -create- all the members of the adventuring party as opposed to encountering them in the game and then recruiting them into your ranks.
Is the artwork good? Yes. Yes, it is. Is the soundtrack good? Yes. Yes, it is. Jeremy Soule is -brilliant.- But while the storyline isn't half bad, it's rather hard to get too engrossed in it when you're having trouble getting attached to your protagonists. It's odd, I suppose, but I found that creating the entire party as opposed to one character actually made me less attached to that party than more attached.
Creating a CHARNAME for the BG games and then seeing how that CHARNAME interacted with all the various BG cast members resulted in me getting far more attached to those player-characters than I ever did to any of the ones I created for Icewind Dale 1 or 2.
It even got to the point where, when I was still trying to get a handle on some of the NPCs I hadn't tried out yet, I actually built some of my CHARNAMEs around the potential party members I wanted to recruit instead of building my party around my main character.
That being said, the Neverwinter Nights games kinda went back to the "old formula" of giving you one main character and having you recruit party members from the world, but it still just couldn't capture the same flavor... largely because there just wasn't enough of the banter (between the party members and your character or even between one party member and another party member) as there was in BG2 or ToB.
