I think Diddy is staying if anything because it's the only representative of the DKC series apart from Donkey Kong himself. At least they are making new DKC games now while the Star Fox series looks like it's dead so shrinking their share of characters would make sense.

Yeah, I was actually pretty annoyed when I was reading that most stages were banned and so was item use in tournament, mainly because they're too "random"....

It's personal opinion over the Wii Fit trainer, though from interviews, HAL pretty added it just to troll Smash fans. You could understand my annoyance if one of my favourite characters gets cut for pretty much a "joke" character though.

Also, I actually prefer Sakurai over Miyamoto, I prefer his game decision more often.

Im gonna take a rough guess on who will be cut and aim around a 8 person cutting (and two more borderline).

Lets see... Wolf, Toon Link, Falco, Lucas, Lucario, Sonic, Snake and Captain Falcon with Marth and Zero Suit Samus on the borderline category. Basically anyone whos a clone character who has a series already covered, third party characters and a few which dont have as much relevancy anymore (Like Falcon given there hasnt been a glimmer of an F-Zero title since the Gamecube and GBA titles).

Captain Falcon is usually associated with Smash bros though. He's more well-known for smash bros than f-zero with the "Falcon Punch" meme.

Thats slightly true but both given a lack of any game in quite some years plus a moveset which is shared could mean a cut there.

I'd say this is unlikely tho since he's the only consistent Fire Emblem character in the last two and they re-released his game in English, so he's probably more relevant than he used to be.

I don't agree with the character choice myself, just thought the topic of the picture itself was pretty witty.

They'll probably replace him with a character from the new Fire Emblem, since that became a big surprise hit for Nintendo (the devs were actually planning for it to be the last one). Marth could be in the new fire elmble so don't blame me for not knowing, but even so I still think they'll bring the protagonist from it instead.
Was Meta Knight actually that bad? I never really noticed the balancing and just played for fun with friends but he never really seemed unfair to play as. Plus if tournaments used items, then they'd know Meta Knight is balanced by his awful final smash, but they play by their rules and still banned him...

No matter how many characters they cut, or add, there will be no resting amongst the fans until Ridley is a playable character.

Is he not too big to be a character, though? That's why he was never added before, I presume.
