That's because people aren't charities for strangers.

Starting out on these forums to specifically beg for someone to buy you a game is not a great way to make friends.

Personally, I'd be less diplomatic and tell him to stop trying and pay for his own bloody games.

Or, failing that, play one of the countless free games around or enter into one of the giveaway competitions.

Don't know about those. However, my guess is that even there, posting with a rep of 0 (meaning your only reason for being on the forum at all is to beg for games) is frowned upon.

There is a difference between "gauging the possibility of a long-time fellow community member gifting you a game out of the goodness of their hearts and a known shared interest" and "entering a new community for the sole reason of brazenly asking for free games from people you have no prior or planned interaction with otherwise".
