StingingVelvet: As a borderline socialist I'm not opposed to restricting people from shit they clearly abuse. However this kind of thing is more about bending over for companies so the consumer can get fucked, which is pretty opposed to typical British sensibilities. Unfortunate. One day so much art will be lost to licensing issues and rights disagreements and people will shrug and say "oh well."
At last, a sensible post.
Yeah, BT, Sky, Virgin, and a few others have been ordered to block PirateBay, and while it does work, it doesn't work well, as it's fairly easy to get around. They just block the IP. Proxies and other measures do get you to the site....It'll only really block the not-much-of-a-clue-about-t'interwebz people.
While the others have done it without complaint (or very much of one in public), BT have done a lazy job, and said they are "considering their position"....
Trouble with this is : where will it stop? Today, torrents. Tomorrow : competing shops!
