Cliftor: But verbiage aside, we all concur it's a decent idea?

"Gifting" something that free isn't an idea, is a waste of time. Do you want to "suggest" someone to download something that's free? Fine, then give away him the damn link and don't whine like kid, lol :-D

I still think building that kinda functionality right into the website would still be cool.
Like Weclock said, it would be much more enticing for someone to see key points of relevant information presented all pretty-like, rather than just a hyperlink.

Proper not at all, I say :-p
As they've already said over and over and over, at GOG they're "a small team", and frankly I think they shouldn't waste time on useless things like this one instead of going out of the beta, making deals with publishers and so on....
Life is made of priorities, if ya want a "proper invitation" to get a free game do some css and html and send a personalized mail with the link to BaSS :p

Look, I'm not saying that they absolutely SHOULD do it, and that I'm upset or outraged that they haven't.
I'm saying it would be a nice thing to have; It's a good idea, regardless of whether or not they have the time or resources to implement it.

Just because you wouldn't use it, doesn't mean there aren't others who wouldn't. I know I would and at least 3 other people said it was a good idea too. Being able to send an invitation like that, for me would work better than just a link. Say, if I sent you a link to some website that sounded too good to be true, would you click on it? I mean, with a proper invitation, giving understanding about what GOG.com is and etc, and notifying of the free adventure games that are on there, I think that would be a thousand times more likely to attract people than some random link to the games.

It's done for every gamepage except those two. Something tells me it would be easy to implement... as easy as it is for a new game..

Exactly.
And considering it's all of TWO games that are free at the moment, I can't imagine it being a particularly momentous task.
You're making it sound like it would require an amazing herculean effort to pull it off.

Without knowing how GOG's systems are set up it's hard to be specific but it'd be a pretty simple process unless they hardcode unique pages & functions for each game which would just be madness given how much repetition there is in making a website.
The page modification would be a fairly simple copy & paste of the 2 buttons & script calls into the relevant pages code, those should be the same for each page.
I suspect the process would basically go like this:
User presses Gift Game button
call "gift_a_game"
Open user input panel for recipient details
User inputs recipient details
Get "recipient_email_address"
Open outlook/email app & create new message
Write "Dear $Recipient_Name$, $Username$ has gotten you a gift! Go to $Download_Page$ to download your DRM free and financially free copy of $Game_ID$"
Send.
Far from essential and nothing that can't be done with a self-sent link but it would make it look nicer with a more official invitation. Also it just looks odd to NOT have it on the page.
