I knew it as both depending on who I talked to at the time. I figured it was a great compound word and didn't know it was offensive. I guess it's the way one pronounces it.

"Japan-y-mation" where the word "Japan" is pronounced fully: not offensive in theory since one is trying to describe "an animation style originating from Japan"

vs.

"Jap-animation" where the accent is on the first three letters makes this offensive.

Still, it's safer to just use "Anime".

I usually pronounced "Japanimation" as "Japan-a-may-shun"

Nova and (Arcturus) Mengsk are Starcraft characters, and Mengsk is Nova's boss, so to speak. Nova is a deadly cyber ninja gizmo assassin for the Terran Dominion, and Mengsk is the emperor of said Terran Dominion.
