Hi,
Does anyone know what version of The Witcher is distributed by Atari in Australia?
I would like to patch up to the latest to remove the copy protection but are having problems. I have the Enhanced Edition that comes in the big box with extra disks and books.
I tried to install the 1.5 patch but received the below error message. From what I could see I downloaded the correct patch
--------------Error Message Below------------------
>SetupNew\setup.ccp(135)
PAPP:
PVENDOR:
PGUID:
$14.0.0.162
@windows XP Service Pack 3 (2600) Non English IE/Netscape 61608.18
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have no idea what the above error means by I am running XP SP3, and the PC is English, so have no idea what the Non English bit is.
If anyone knows what version the Australian version is and what patches I need to apply please let me know. I tried to register at the Witcher home page, but for some reason I never get the account activation email. My ISP may be blocking their address as I have tried a few times now.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers MarkL

A1: The patching process needs about ~4GB of free disk space on the partition the game is installed.
A2: Reboot computer into Windows "Safe Mode with Networking" and try to install the patch.
A3: The patcher needs at least these.NET Framework 1.1, 2.0, 2.0SP1 and 3.0, 64bit users need these also: 2.0, 2.0SP1, 3.0
A4: The patch files need to be in the same folder and have their original file names as the patcher application checks them and it might crash if the files are not found. See this link: http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/1.4_patch and http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/1.5_patch about the exact file names.
Aww and here I was hoping for an australian themed re-release with cork hats, kangaroos and bunyips
Not to mention Geralt running around going "Strewth, mate !!! Stick another Kikkimore steak on the barbie"

Thanks for the information.
I needed to reinstall dot net v2 for some reason.
Then when I copied the patch to the root directory of the installation it worked. No need to boot into safe mode.
Odd that the patched version shows v1.4.5.1304 and not 1.5
Glad that I have the Enhanced edition as upgrading to the enhanced edition looks like you need to register online of something.
Hopefully I will get around to playing this one now, still going through Fallout 3.
Thanks for all the help

I'd hate to be in Australia...

I would direct the question to this GOG member as he helped me with several Witcher questions.

Err yeah because australians are forbidden by law from installing the dot net framework...

That doesn't sound outside the realm of possibility.

That Atkinson guy can probably figure out how to create a phallic symbol out of the name, and subsequently ban it.
